Instead of replacing stock resonator with manaflow or dynamax, you can replace with one of this test pipe. this might give you more power and more air back pressure. what do you guys think?

 

from 3 inch outlet, you can use extended pipe by deleting mid muffler, 3 inch Y pipe and catback muffler.

 

Call me crazy, but I always went with new and bigger exhaust to reduce back pressure on my cars. Any car with a full exhaust will have enough back pressure to keep the valves from floating, even if it's a straight pipe exhaust from the front to the back. It does however, look like it'll produce a different sound from what everyone else has. Try it out, record it, and lets see!

 

from a sound stand point I think it would sound like the stage 4

 

it might be just effective as removing catylistic converter and replace with 3 inch test pipe....but instead we're gonna leave the cat converter, remove stock resonator and midmuffler and use 2.5" to 3.0" converting pipe. from what i've heard, gaining hp from removing cat is very minimal. so why do we mess with it?

 

I wouldn't remove the cats at all, I mean Al Gore is right, lol... I don't think their would be any gains in nice sound by removing the dynomax resonator and replacing it with a test pipe, test pipe are for the race track, there really isn't any gain from replacing the 3rd cat with it, and the sound from replacing the resonator with a test pipe will sound similar to - http://youtube.com/watch?v=_DMzeflRdT4

 

stage4 + apexi or hks sounds pretty nice........nothing like the one on that clip. and straight pipe has better flow than having resonator....difference is just a little but it's more effective on performance.

on that clip, if he would have done with 3" pipe instead of 2.5" straight, he might have more hp.

 

Yeah I've heard that vid, someone posted it on the other exhaust mod thread, mmmh I mean if you are going to go stage 4 with upgraded muffler, why add a test pipe?

I just don't get the idea of the test pipe, you honestly don't need it...

2.25" tubbing from the cat to an Apexi WS2 or an HKS Canister would sound pretty freakn sexy

where do you live by the way that you aren't concerned with db levels?

 

i originaly did stage 4 on my S and hated it...much to ricey...especialy around 2500. just sizzled and snapped.

went to stage 3 and i think its one of the best sounding cars i have ever heard.

 

well, i just ordered hks hi-power mufflers.........we'll see how that goes. if those sound too ricey with straight pipe, i'll get the dynomax resonator.

k.....lol i had a good deal from the performance shop near by. i paid $189+tax for each hks mufflers for pick up.
