Weapon-r SRI install

I just installed a Weapon-r Secret intake on my 07 tl-s. Not sure what exactly the tube coming out of the intake pipe is. But it's gotta be some kind of air flow sensor. (I'm a noob in case you haven't noticed). I searched a little and thought it was max air flow sensor(MAF) but found that my car has an MAP I think it was called. Not sure what that stands for.

But my question is this. From looking at the picture, is the way I installed the tube going to cause any problems? As you can see, I had to loop it around, because it didn't fit quite right. I tried to run it straight, but it was kinked.

Also, do I need to oil the filter for this? It came with filter cleaner but no oil and instructions don't say anything about oiling it.

One more thing, I've heard people say I should tune the car after any upgrades. How is that done?. Or would resetting the ECU be good enough?

A lot of questions, I know, but THANKS to anyone gracious enough to help a noob out!

I kinda like the sound, but haven't really noticed any improvement in performance. I wish I had taken the car out and really paid close attention to accelleration before and after but probably little difference anyway.

But the car seems a little sluggish right now. I plan on resetting the ecu to see if I get better throttle response.

Overall, I like it but don't neccesarily love it. But I have not hooked up the cold air tube yet either.

Correct me if i am wrong but that is the PCV hose. It allows your engine to burn crank case gases. Its like a vent for the crank case. You should trim that hose down a bit it will look a little cleaner without the loop!

It's sluggish because the factory intake is a semi-cold air intake and it flows all the air the engine needs. It's not a restriction.

The SRI draws in hot air from under the hood so you're losing power.

I had bought this exact intake for mine but if your looking for performance upgrade, this isnt what you want.

Sine the Short ram intake is inside the engine bay its sucking in the hot air. which means not performance upgrade just sound...

But if you get a cold air intake, it sucks in the cooler air from outside the engine bay... there for you get a lil bit of an increase in performance. maybe 5 to 8 horsepower maybe less... but it sounds sesky :p

I heard some people call these hot air intakes. But i was a little scared of going through large puddles with a CAI.

I'm thinking of just getting a K&N drop in and removing the intake resonater. That should give me a nice sound while getting a little better air flow, less restriction. Anybody have that set up?

Here's what it sounds like jimbo. that tube (PCV?) is really starting to annoy me. I have to try a little harder to get a better fit without having to loop it around.

A drop in K&N is not needed. The factory filter flows more than enough air for a stock engine. All you will get is worse filtration.

Worse filtration with K&N?

My stock air filter is dirty as hell, so I need something new anyways if I go back to stock air intake.
