Water buffeting noise w/intake res delete

So my TL-S has the intake resonator removed so there is just the stock tube coming down from the factory box and turns toward the headlights. During a heavy rain when I give it more than 20% throttle I get an water buffeting noise from the intake. Has anyone else experienced this? I am running a K&N panel filter so if moisture were to get to the filter, it would not come apart like a paper one would. I understand water can't compress, hydrolock bad, etc etc but short of driving it into a lake sized puddle, the layout of the intake path simply would not promote water of any sizable amount getting up into the box and past the filter but I am getting a weird water suction/buffet noise. It goes away as soon as you resume to light driving.

Anyone else have issues like this? I have not modified anything around that area but it seems odd to be having these problems when people routinely run CAI's that offer even less protection.

Thanks,

Brett

I can add that this is a fairly unique problem. I have never seen anyone post this before. I recommend what justnspace said.

Please let us know what you find? Curious.

Well, I pulled the intake box cover off and the filter looked good as new and there was zero debris in the bottom of the box. The tube that is left looks about 8-10" long in total - it comes out of the side of the box, turns a 90 degree down and terminates while pointing down (not forward like I previously thought) so this would make it even harder for water to 'ram' its way up the pipe since any water that hits the pipe would essentially hit the side of a pipe, not the opening. Strange. With all that being said, I wonder if the filter itself is getting totally saturated in heavy rains (inhaling lots of mist) and causing some sort of air/water cavitation.
