Want to Mod my type s
Want to Mod my type s
So I got tired of the misfire headaches of my 03 type s so I decided on the 08 type s! Are any of my 2nd gen mods compatible with my 3rd gen? Also I hear the type s can't have headers, is that true? Should I have bought the non-type s and added headers? Also what mods are the best? I have an injen CAI on my 2nd gen and love it but I don't know if they make it for the 3rd gen type s...Also what's the difference between type s/non type s

Ok let's start from ur first question
About the only things you can put on the 3g type s are the wheels and the interior leds, and um, wheels, if you have wheels that can clear the brakes, that's about it
Headers; all 3g tl's do not have headers, if you pop ur hood and look down you will see motor-cat-o2 censor, alternartive here is Procats
Cai: there are a few intakes available, depends on which you would like to buy, injen, aem or fujita

1. TL-S Mods:
UR Underdrive pulley, P2R Thermoblock Spacer combo, AEm/Injen/Fujta Cold Air Intake, E-Shift Pro-Cats, ATLP Exhaust, Weight Reduction, Brake stuff, Rims, Lighting (clear head-lights, switch bulbs, LED lights) Progress Rear Sway Bar, Tein SS suspension w/EDFC
2. 2004+ TLs don't have headers. They are cast onto the block, but you can help aid the motor by adding the E-Shift Pro cats, they are CARB legal, but give a good WHP gain.
3. From every angle, the TLS has some different component than its bro, the TL-P. The TL-S has a firmer suspension, with an available A-Spec suspension which is even firmer. The TL-S has different front and rear's, the Front differs with Chrome Trim instead of the Satin trim, the Bumper has a bigger chin and the lights differ with a cleared lenses from the factory. The rear differs with Gun-Metal accents in the Tail-lights, and it comes with a Quad Exhaust.
The Brakes are beefed up with Brembo Brakes, the suspension is also beefed up with larger sway bars in the rear.
The interior of the TYPE-S is different. It comes in either a Silver/Black combo or a taupe interior. Both ways, the lighting is red for everything, the guages, the time, the radio, the accent lighting, everything. As well, the TL-S comes with fake aluminum pedals with rubber inserts in them for a sportier feel, Fake carbon Fiber trim to be a bit more sporty over the really fake black wood and also a active noise cancelation feature to help cut down on the noise.

Search thread titles for "Putting Diet" in the Performance sub-forum and you'll turn up a very long thread on weight reduction. Gets a extreme for some, but there are some good ideas there.
Front and Rear Boat Anchors;
Light weight Wheels;
Engine Covers;
Lightweight Battery;

I'm gonna do the throttlebody spacer and intake first.. i talked to a guy at c/t and they need a type s to build a s/c for. I happily offered mine and they said they expect to get to it in the summer... They'd have to keep the car for a week but he couldn't tell me how they would compensate me

What is a Thermoblock Spacer and E-Shift Pro-Cats?
What is a Thermoblock Spacer and E-Shift Pro-Cats?
The Thermoblock Spacer is a chunk of aluminum that gets placed in between the engine and intake manifold. Keeps the intake a little cooler, so the air doesn't heat up as much before it hits the engine.
The E-Shift Pro-Cats are basically replacement Cats for the TL, it basically makes the exhaust freer flowing. I believe people here have had some problems with the internals degrading prematurely which causes backups on the exhaust.
Hope that helps ya out

Do you mean that people who install the E-Shfit Pro-Cats are have internals degrading prematurely?

no, the e-shift performance procats were poor quality, so from the heat at cold starts the cats began detiriorating... the car operates perfectly fine, but the primary cats detiriorate causing the 3rd cat to be blocked, causing you to lose power

BTW, I did get a good LOL with the "What else is there??" question.
Would the Hiflow cats along with my 3rd cat delete trip my Computer with an error reading?
