What is carb approval? Is it part of our warranty?

I assume you are located in Austin, Texas.
"CARB" is the California Air Resources Board, which has stricter limits on emissions, etc. and is the entity which approves cars for sale in California. New York and several other states have since adopted CARB policies, so automakers no longer have to test or make a specific "California" car along with a "49-state" car- they just make it legal for CARB and the car can be sold in every state.

Voiding CARB approval means changing something that was certified for use in CA; that change in parts may void Acura's warranty for corresponding part and parts downstream which fail because of that change (I doubt that Acura will say you voided a warranty on the fuel injectors if all you did was install an aftermarket intake).
