Ughh....Another Accord... but lots of dynos..

OK... guess i can play. Seeing how the other 7th gen J-Series Accords are popping up like Sonnick, Simione, and NvrDwn. Ive been around posting in both the 3rd gen TL and 2nd gen CL area. But i guess i should get on with it.. lol Got lots of pics and dynos..

I got my Accord December 2, 2011. The car already has an AEM v2 Intake and Borla catback exhaust. Also the car has an JL Equalizer under passenger seat and Alpine Amp under the driver seat. The car also came with the full HFP package, HIDs, HID fogs too.

Guess I will mention this now since I posted lots of dynos.

Here was the baseline of my car. 218whp/184wtq

January 29th, 2012
I was supposed to do a stock vs XLR8 V2 jpipe dyno comparison but when we lifted my car we found XLR81 V1 JPipe and Resonated Testpipe.

Testing Conditions:
The dynos were done at YCU Dyno Tuning Specialist in York, PA on their Mustang Dyno MD-500. Pulls were all done with the cars engine coolant temperature at 180 degrees. Temperature in the shop was averaging about 69 degrees(We were opening and shutting the door when the temperature was rising above 72 degrees and dropped to/below 65). Intake air temperatures were in the high 60s, low 70s before the start of each run.

The RESULTS!!!!
Before the ECU was reset.
XLR8 V2: 222.416 whp 188.071 wtq
Unknown jpipe/high flow cat: 215.371 whp 180.825 wtq
Gains: 7.045 whp 7.246 wtq
(sorry for this pic forgot to tell him to save it and send it to me.)

After the ECU was reset and had around ten 1/4 mile runs and about six power pulls.
XLR8 V2: 225.769 whp 189.962 wtq
Unknown jpipe/high flow cat: 215.371 whp 180.825 wtq
Gains: 10.398 whp 9.137 wtq

Here is the final graph.

Overall Opinion:
The pipe looks great and out performs the j-pipe and high flow cat that was on the car. I can feel the power increase while driving the car with the butt dyno. The removal and install of the J-Pipe took less than two hours. But that was with lots distractions and the car up in the air and a little cordless impact. Other tools used were sockets, wrenchs, and breaker bar. Three people were used to during this install(holding/placement j-pipe, pulling back exhaust, and lining up the holes/putting bolts in it). During the install I had one of the studs back out of a cat so we replaced it with a new one and a nut. Also im not sure if its in the directions or not, but I removed the hanger bushing and placed it on the J-Pipe before install. I give this pipe :up:

Installed RV6 V3 PCDs(no pics of the install) The front one took less than 45 minutes to do... rear one 4 hours.. I had to remove my strut bar... which meant i had to pop the cowl off to get to four more bolts. Having the car on a lift made things so much easier.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

February 12, 2012
I uploaded a few more videos to my photobucket/youtube
Mods are the following: RV6 V3 PCDs, XLR8 V2 J-Pipe, Borla Catback Exhaust, AEM V2 CAI. 04 manual.

Dyno Run with camera by exhaust.. before PCDs

Idle/revving After PCDs installed

30-85mph After PCDs installed

1st-3rd pull after PCDs installed(pull starts around 1:03ish)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 8th, 2012
I installed my XLR8 V2 75A engine mounts.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 10th, 2012
Went back on the dyno I went.

Base- 218/183
2nd Mod- 226/190
New Graph- 230/197

My Base- AEM V2 CAI, Borla Catback, XLR8 V1 J-Pipe, RV6 Resonated Test Pipe
2nd Mod-Swapped on XLR8 V2 J-Pipe and removed XLR8 V1 J-Pipe and RV6 Resonated Test Pipe
Newest Graph- V3 PCDs and XLR8 75A mounts installed.

Butterflies were deleted from the intake manifold in less than 15 minutes!!!

Now you see them.

Now you dont.

All back together.

The tools for the job.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

April 12th, 2012

Installed my NRG Damper w/ custom bracket. Also installed my milled MDX spacer. Got the spacer from NVA-AV6.
Almost snapped off the top plate bolt when re-tightening it..

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

April 17th, 2012

A stayed in NJ a couple days after the weekend of Honda Day and then I got side swiped on the turnpike driving home..

Here were the best two passes from that Honda Day @ Atco.

The same tires that were are the car when i got it are still on it. They are Bridgestone Potenza 215/50/R17 95W RE960AS

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May 6th, 2012

Went back on the dyno and the car went from 230whp/197wtq to 227whp/200wtq. The changes were the butterflies were removed and the intake manifold spacer installed. Also I removed the foglight in the bumper so the filter would get more air flow.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

June 17th, 2012

Installed a hacked up version of the AEM V2. I cut about 4-5 inches out of it total. Also the pipe in a pipe is gone.

For this process first I cut the 3" section where it meet the little wall. Next i Cut 3/4-1 inch off on that side on the 4 inch pipe. Removed smaller pipe and now was a straight 4" pipe with nothing in it. Then I cut right above where the mounting bracket was welded. I did this because it was cracked at the weld, and also because the filter Im using is pretty big and was pushing on the bumper lining.

Only needed one 3-4" coupler and didnt have to worry about angles.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

June 23rd, 2012

Was down in NC for a meet/dyno day and was on a different dyno. Also did a impromptu dry shot. Lmao . The numbers that were said in the video weren't sae corrected.

Dyno Sheet from this weekend down in NC.
Dyno used is a Dynocom Dyno and the elevation was 2350ft
SAE Corrected.

246whp/228wtq straight motor
351whp/311wtq spraying intake tube with nitrous(open bottle and aim technique)

Here is the video

After this day i was looking more into nitrous.. and then possibly nitro/meth because of Innaccurates thread

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

July 22, 2012

Last night added some more kills.

Cummings with a controller from a Dig. I was at his bed up to about a 1/8 mile and then past him. I spun the top of first and half of second too.

RX-8 from a 25 and then 40 roll. RX-8 had a intake and some custom one exit exhaust. 25 roll he didnt have a chance. I just pulled on him crazy. 40 roll was a little more even but top of 2nd/beginning or 3rd i started pulling away.

350Z from a dig(stock car) Went off a light and the guy slept. I was gone. :-) Try to go again with him from a roll but he took off behind me with my friends srt04 swapped 2nd gen sedan. I cant beat any neons around here with srt4 swaps. :-(

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

August 20, 2012

Had some fun this weekend. won some lost some.

3 videos from roll races with a TSI Talon didnt get a good video from a dig,but lost that race was a 3 way race against a LT1 Trans AM(Same one I beat from a roll before)

No videos from these races to my knowledge.
Me vs. LT1 Trans AM again... i cant beat him from a dig but beat him from a roll. Side by Side pretty much but top end I pull away.

Me vs. SS Colbalt.. Cobalt had upgrade blower, high boost pulley, cobra heat exchanger, exhuast, and tune. 2nd gear roll pretty much side by side till I shift and he pulls a half a car and slowly kept creeping away.

The 3" exhaust piping kit came that I ordered Mandrel Exhaust Systems.
Like I thought.. 3" exits on the dual.
Cliff notes so far:
Order by phone after 2pm on a FrIday 9/7
Payment processed on that Thursday 9/13
Shipped on Monday 9/17
Missed Delivery on Thursday 9/20(Yesterday), put on hold for pick up., and picked up today.
Flange and hangers will need to be welded to the pipe. Also they sent a 2 bolt flange...
Now onto some pics.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 12th, 2012

Made another trip back to the track before the 3" exhaust went on. Car number 503.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 14th, 2012

3" Exhaust went onto the car with no mufflers... Drove this way for a whole week...

warning: Turn volume down before playing these two videos.

Revving it with no mufflers..

A pull with no mufflers with a 300+lb passenger...

My two Vibrant Streetpower mufflers arrived.
And then they went on the exhaust.

And just a light rolling pull with the mufflers.

And here is the borla when i removed it from my accord.

Cruising around my neighborhood with the new mufflers on.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

October 27th, 2012

Went to a dyno meet about a hour away from my house and I was glad to say that i wasnt the lowest hp car there. :-) First time on a dynojet... and this one is known to read low.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

November 10th, 2012

Finally got back on my friends Mustang Dyno. look at the differences between the afr before amd after the 3". Ignore the old ones lean out spike. That was a sensor malfunction.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

November 17th, 2012

So yeah.. my car is a dyno whore. I went to a local dynojet about 30 minutes away and was doing all kinds of 4th gear highway pulls on the way there. This was an older dynojet(huge drum).

229whp/205wtq.. lower than what I expected. and now I have a new hypothesis. . That all Dynojets around me are set up to read lower. HP on upper chart and tq on the lower. This was a 4th and 3rd gear pull. Run #3 was 4th gear, and run #4 was in 3rd gear. I m still pretty sure he was trying to calibrate his dyno with my car to match my friends mustang dyno.. Cause the earlier pulls were lower and each time i told them they were close he was making changes and the numbers were going up.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

December 6th, 2012

Off work this weekend so hope the following happens:

Spark Plugs
Compression Test Engine
Transmission Fluid(Synchromesh .. one of them)
Sell Borla Catback Exhaust
Maybe install wideband

oh and hopefully see how much power this 2012 SI with Full-Race Turbo Kit makes... stock clutch took a crap and was slipping at 250wtq..

Took a little break and back to it. Currently working on testing of Ethans reasonably-priced-piggyback-feeler and got somethings planned for the next couple months.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 1st, 2013

ZDX TB, P2R Adapter and gaskets

But then I realized that there is a brass fitting where the map sensor is supposed to be...contacted the vendor on K20a that i bought it from. Because it was for a K and not a J.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 2nd, 2013

TB was shipped back to vendor. Also picked up a set of 05-06 Base RSX wheels for real cheap.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 4th, 2013

Had some new brakes and rotors installed on the car. Also got some hangers welded to the mufflers to try and tuck them up a little higher.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 11th, 2013

Went down to VA to see NVA-AV6(Paul) to get a set of his heads and ported runners. (3.5 TL-S cams and valvesprings, ported heads and also the heads were shaved to raise compression to 11:1, and the valves were also done, 5 way seat cuts. Also found that i had two slightly bent valves when the original heads were removed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 30th, 2013

I did one pull but afr was leaner than i wanted because of a faulty after market wideband sending a wrong signals... also clutch was slipping on dyno.. The p2r ported intake manifold wasnt installed yet... The uncorrected numbers were higher because of the cool night..

25* whp uncorrected vs. 24* whp sae corrected ... but i know they would have been higher if afr was. richer. Clutch slipped at initial punch on the dyno and then again and again and again at vtec... corrected tq was 207 i think cant remember uncorrected... i think those are saved i will try and get a copy this weekend.

Cliff notes... slipping clutch, more air and not enough fuel due to aftermarket wideband signal, not a solid result to base opinions. But im very happy and the heads were/are worth it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

April 9th, 2013

Put the RSX wheels on the car... They just look too small and well the 205/55s are really small.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

April 11th, 2013

Ported P2R intake manifold i got from Sonnick and my ZDX TB and adapter was installed on the car in prep for Honda Day.... Went to Honda Day and ran like crap... clutch was slipping terribly and i was stuck in the 14s again.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

June 19th, 2013

Clutch, Pressure plate and flywheel done thanks to NVA-AV6(Paul). Also he installed the modified slave cylinder I had sitting in my trunk.

My two hour trip home ended up being four hours. Due to an accident shutting down 15 and me driving in circles for an hour trying to find an alternate route. Thats when i said screw it and drove towards baltimore and then headed north. so the new clutch has over 200 miles on it already. Lol

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And to the current day.

No new dyno numbers or track times yet. Try and get everything together and new tires for Honda Day Englishtown August 10-11

Those Vibrant mufflers are very similar to the ones I'll be using on the Accord except the ones I want have the dual tips.

Great progress so far man. Looking good.

it was a little bit of a headache for me... i think the piping is more directed towards the TL Chassis since i had to shorten sections. Also the 3" exuast with dual exit came with both exits being 3" also. They werent reduced. Im not sure if the 2.5" dual will be the same and not reduce either.

MandrelExhaustSystems.com

And here is the thread where I learned about the company. Have Pictures and videos of the install on my car.

Where are people buying the parts to do a full 3" to 2.5" exhaust?

Mandrelexhaust isn't too bad with 303 stainless steel option though. however 3" all the way back seems to be unnecessary

Yea, he's a consistent 2.0 - 2.1 on good tires. I've only pulled one 2.0 60', but there will be more I swear! Once I settle in with these DRs there should be some 1.9s at least...

RSX wheels are definitely worth it (I ended up going with the stock 205/60 tires to better fill out the wheel wells), at 9 pounds less each per corner its something you notice.

I've been slacking lately. .. but here is an update. Went to a local dyno day today and put my car on the dyno there. It was the same.place as last year on a dynojet. If you guys remember this dynojet reads lower then any other dynojet I knoe. Its really close to Mustang Dyno numbers

Last years comparison:
237/212 on dynojet vs. 233/202 on mustang dyno

This year around I got to.get back on the mustang dyno that I always an on. Here are the results:

Also I'm on the factory ecu. No piggyback but FlashPro is coming soon. Here is a video

no exhaust mods? you need to let her breathe

from the mods you have, opening up your exhaust will gain you quite a lot

Swoosh. Look up above. :-) I have rv6 v3 pcds, xlr8 v2 j-pipe, and custom 3" to dual 3" splits with vibrant 3" street power mufflers. So I think it maybe breathing too much.

Quick Reply: Ughh....Another Accord... but lots of dynos..
