Havent been around here in a while
I have not installed the meth yet. Waiting on the ECU to do it all at once. The intercooler does seem to work very well dispite being behind the bumper.

Hi Speed,

Don't you have the full version of the UCM?

I remember someone posting how the UCM caused their IAT to drop a lot on thier S/C. I might be thinking of someone else.

I do have the full UCM but, I did it when I went turbo. My IM temps dropped by about 50 with the UCM and the oil cooler.

Even if not directly exposed to moving air, it still does its job quiet well...it is a heat exchanger after all. Moving air just makes it work better...being behind the bumper isn't that drastic...air gets around either way

To hit 400+ a high boost pulley will be needed and at least an intercooler as heat soak will be a killer and combustion chamber will be super hot especially with regular octane ..

Guys with SC TL....what was your 1/4th time? How fast was it to get to 60 from a dig? And does the SC work with a 5AT TL?

So i got alittle more information on the S/c'ed guy with the ECU. First off, he was COMPLETELY STOCK, still had cats on, stock exhaust so basically all he bought was a overpriced intake and he did not fully benefit from the s/c and will be going turbo. He is selling his s/c in the BM.

https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/3g-tl-base-comptech-superchager-1000-miles-840363/

He stated in the F/s thread that he only made 270/240 with his setup.. a fully bolted TL makes more than that..

I Pm'ed him to see if he has any insight on the tuning or problems he might've ran into. Hopefully he does.

Hey guys, sorry I didnt update anyone before this (especially you Rodney, I meant to contact you back but totally forgot about it, thanks to infamouslink for reminding me). I have an 04 MT with a CT Supercharger and a J&R ECU, otherwise completely stock. I made 270 WHP and 240 Tourqe with the J&R ECU. I had the car tuned before the ECU was installed and I made 255 and 225 respectively with the CT piggyback. I am in Denver, so elevation of 5280 was a factor. The car was tuned on a superflow windyn dyno (same dyno both times) with STP corrected WHP. I dont have too much other info, as I didnt tune the car, but I can answer some question so feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the update. 15HP/15tq gains from the ECU compared to the ct-e ACM plus general reliability on a completely stock TL seems low. N/a, people can make 15-20HP just on the ECU. If there was more mods, the gains probably would've been more.

Yes. Im not going to base my build on his stock setup.. I have more aftermarket supporting mods than what i paid for the s/c.
Precats, jpipe, exhaust is a MUST!!!! thats atleast 40HP. i have other things as well. Just one form of the FREE cooling mod will keep temps low enough to enjoy boosting and running the TL.

I spoke to rodney earlier and it looks like i might be the first to do an all out s/c build with his ecu. I told him i would love to get his turbo but my complete build will be 1/2 the price of his turbo+install

I think a lot of us would rather do the J&R Turbo instead of the CT SC, but overall cost is the biggest factor.

@ InFaMouS, if 40hp gain is expected from HFPC's, Jpipe, and catback, with the SC, then I'm as psyched as P1zzaman should be!

I felt like it was closer to 50 HP. SC gives you about 60 HP with the car otherwise stock and freeing up the exhaust produced another 50 HP. Night and day difference from stock SC to SC with full exhaust.

And thats just exhaust... Add other things to help the motor out and you'll be above the stated HP numbers.

i started my build thread.

On my car all I hear is the BOV as I shift. I don't rev the engine much past 4k most of the time because of the TQ band so I don't get much noise from the wategate.

I remember the loud whine from the SC really added to the experience. With the turbo you can be in boost and not know it other that the G forces from the acceleration.

Quick Reply: Turbo or Supercharger for my '06 TL?
