Tornado Air

Hi! I'm semi-new to this forum, started looking around as soon as i got my 05 TL last week! well, ive been looking around and wondered about some small upgrades that i could do. sorry if these questions seem to be a little irksome to some but i havent found anything really on these topics

1. would a "tornado air" upgrade be worth it? and if so, would the power upgrade/fuel efficiency really be there?

1 b) tornado air or turbonator?

2. What does a RAM air intake setup do?

3. What would be the realistic cons to a CAI setup?

4. How much would it cost to get a CF hood and get it painted OEM colors?

5. what are the dangers of these upgrades?

Thanks in advance!

okay ready?

1. no
1b. no
2. no
3. just do it! cai is the way to go.
4. if you're gonna paint it oem, just get fiberglass. if weight is your issue. the cf would blend and sit nicely with the anthracite...
5. cai could hydrostatically lock your engine possibly bending rods or other damage to internal engine parts. but only if you completely submerge the filter.

I did test on the tornado with my TL- it worked great on my old truck and other cars
Sadly- it conflicts with VTEC system and the end result is I took it out and returned it.

Install a lightweight crank pully and see faster revving if thats what you want

Regarding the tornado, there have been many discussions about it's effectiveness. Just for the heck of it, I bought one and installed one on my '05 AT. That was about 2 years ago, and I have not experienced any increase in HP or mpg as they claim. Save your money on other mods. jmo.

DON'T GET THE TORNADO!

They are not street legal! They are used for drag racing cars and you will have way to much hp for your car to handle. Don't get it unless you plan on upgrading everything else.

Hey aznsy,

jdmspec333 is right.

Stay way from the Tornado or any thing like it , just a waste of money!

Get a short tube (short ram) CAI and getting water into the intake is virtually eliminated. While a long tube (long ram) CAI offers better performance I would only use them during very dry seasons because they can suckup water if you hit a big enough puddle.

Happy Motoring!
