WOW...am very sorry but I have to say THATS IT?

the 07 TL type s usual puts down around 235 on the dyno...so with a jpipe/exhaust/intake and a tune, you gained ONLY 30hp?

Can we see the dyno graphs....also do you have the AFR plotted on them? any change of a ignition map?

Funny enough, the KC National meet, I ran a Type S which was fully bolted in with a Hondata FP tune....he was by himself and I had a passenger....we went at it and we were neck and neck....we hit it from 55-60 to 90-ish....I wish we would have kept going, am pretty sure I would have gained on him....I am guessing he had a 5AT....

am guessing you have a 5AT as well....

Might be a 6spd....remember guys, every dyno reads differently. Yonkersracing here put down 197 bolt on/tuned RSX Type S, and 228 on another with the same mods. Before/after on the same dyno is all that matters, not he 'actual' numbers.

With that said, post the graphs OP. I'm assuming you did a few baseline runs prior to tuning. What were the numbers before?

Actually that dyno, unless they switched, should read high. I think it's a dynapack.

When I ran my bone stock 04 6MT on that dyno, if I recall, I put down 242 or 244. Lol

30 HP without any internals is pretty good...HP is hard to come by without force induction...unless you do internal work.

Looks like an auto and it's done on a Dynapack Dyno so it's a hub dyno and not a roller. Even though a dyno pack you take off the wheels, this does not mean its not fw hp. For Dynopack, the readings can be set and most of the time reads higher than most roller dynos. Just look at Church's dyno. I might have to add 10-15 more hp's on to get a more accurate number if it was done on a dynojet.

Drivetrain losses for the manual is about 15% or 40 HP and the auto is about 23% or 60 HP. On a side note, the drive train loss does not increase as the engine power goes up, so many I have spoke to have the idea that the losses are always a set %. Dispite running double the factory power, my drivetrain loss has not changed ( still 40 HP ) now about 10% loss.

Holy crap 15% loss?
When I used to lurk the Cobra forums it was between 6-10% loss for manual.
I hope that's not true, I'm pretty sure Honda can engineer a better transmission than that.

^^^ Chris the loses are insane...

The type S is rated at 289HP @ the crank....

The typical 5AT puts down ~235 and the typical 6MT puts down ~250....which means the AT is loosing 54HP which is ~20% and the MT is loosing 39 which is ~12-13%

also, the reason I felt the gains for the guy were not great because I know the MS3 with the right tuning can gain ~25whp and 25wtq....

so with jpipe/intake/exhaust, I would have expected atleast 35+whp total....

PS: am just thinking out loud....

OP can you post your map's for ign and afr?

Would be neat to have the tuner come on to talk about his work. I'm thinking calibration.
