Straight pipe muffler question

So i'm planning on getting my mufflers straight piped and I was wondering if I am able to keep my original tips or if I have to get new ones?

Planning on getting this down next weekend so some feedback would be greatly appreciated.

you can keep the original tips. but imo.. i done the same thing when i first got the car, it's cool for just a day. but you'll really get annoyed of it from the droning inside the interior.

just get glasspacks.. if you want to do straight pipe atleast you'll still resonate instead of rasp

^vill0169.
I look up to you. Thanks for being an inspiration.

I installed RV6 V3 PCD's yesterday and holy hell, I love it.
I lightened my TL about 60lbs and with the 6mt, she really pulls in 3rd gear.

Thanks man!

Now if we can just get the rest of the forum to stop running to the dealer whenever a light bulb burns out and start learning that there's no substitute for experience, whether good or bad. Now that would be a forum I'd love to be on. lol

Maybe the OP should do whatever exhaust work he was talking about. He'll hate it, and then have to spend more money to fix it but at least he will have learned something and will maybe end up with an exhaust he'll like.

I'm not trying to become a ricer. I'm just doing a muffler delete in other words if you guys thought i was straight piping the whole catback which i can't do because I still have to pass inspection. Catalytic converters, resonater, and mid muffler are staying stock... just replacing the mufflers with 2.5" straight piping which should keep the original sound just a bit louder? Correct me if I am wrong.

^you are correct.

originally, i thought you were gonna straight pipe EVERYTHING.that will give you the most annoying sound ever.
ppl will look at you in disgust.

but if all you're doing is the mid-muffler delete, then yeah it will sound sexy for the amount of money spent.

I know of a guy that straight piped a certain turbo domestic car when he was 17 and even that sounded like a fart canned Civic. You can straight pipe nearly everything as long as you have at least one decent sided muffler/resonator on there. I love most straight through large mufflers. You lose nothing power wise but you can get a deep, mean exhaust note. I wish ATR still made the Pitbulls. IMO THE best sounding straight through muffler ever built.

If drone is an issue, use two different sized straight through mufflers side by side. OEMs have done this for years to keep it quiet on the inside and loud-ish on the outside.

^ yeah I'm going to keep my manufacter/stock resonater so I shouldn't have a problem with drone.
Thanks for all the input, foundd out what I needed to know and I really appreciate the help.

We have 2 muffelers on our TLs. How about if we just cut 1 out, anybody done that? How'd that sound. Get a little more noise...but not too much.

hey would there be any HP gains by removing the mufflers and going with 2.5" pipe from cat into the resonator, then one muffler with 2.5" inlet and two 2.5" outlets in the place of the middle muffler on the TL and then running 2 pipes to the back of the car? Someone did it on their Audi a4 avant and they said they love it. I am concerned that it would be too loud or that I wouldn't see much performance gains. Thoughts? All the parts are magnaflow by the way

"stock pcd" lol i know you didnt mean it this way but you're talking about "stock pre-cat deletes" which is a complete oxymoron. the stock ones are just pre-cats, no delete.

seems like a good write up but just one thing about taking out your resonator and replacing it with straight piping.... raspy as fuck, your resonator is what gives the car the tone it makes? like it gives it the individual sound which is why i just took out my mufflers, same sound just louder

Mid Muffler

i recently did the mid muffler delete on my 08 base AUTO and i love it!

it's not that fart sounding civic sound, it's just right. i thought about taking the back two mufflers off as well but i think i'm gunna go with either the flow master quads to atlp quads (when i get the money)
