Straight pipe

Hey acurazine,

Currently, my 04 TL AT is straight pipe from the 3rd CAT, up to my two n1 mufflers and it's quite loud. It was VERY loud when i first got the mufflers on and the straight pipe but now 9 months later, it doesn't sound as loud as it used to be. i was thinking of changing things up a bit and taking off my mufflers and adding on just straight piping. Anyone know how that would sound? I found several videos on youtube on people straight piping, but most of these guys just kept the OEM exhaust tips and i dont want that look, i want just straight piping.

But most of all, how do you think it will sound? With this set up, itll be a straight pipe from the 3rd cat. What piping should i go for? 2.5', 2.75' or 3?

If you're looking to make the car even louder than it already is, 3" straight piping will probably do the trick. Be prepared for excessive drone though, unless you weld in a couple resonators. We have our XLR8 exhaust that features 2.5" midpipe with 2.25" axlebacks, though it sounds like you're looking for something with no mufflers or resonators.

i'm used to the drone haha, it sucks because the drone used to be super heavy inside the cabin, but after these 9 months owning the car, the drone is like gone. my car doesnt sound loud anymore and i dont really like it. Only sounds loud when i WOT but theres never really many instances when i WOT. Why 3 inch as opposed to a 2.5? bigger pipe means more noise?

and to be honest, i'm going for something really loud, not just a subtle loud. Thats why im considering this straight pipe

I'm straight piped from the j-pipe back, no resonators, 2.5" piping, running to a single exit HKS Hi-Power muffler - i don't get much drone and no rasp, but is louder than most, and pretty aggressive....http://vid84.photobucket.com/albums/...KS%20Final.mp4
