B134 Maintenance

I performed B134 maintenance items (oil change, suspension inspection, fluids checks, ATF drain/replace, spark plugs, and valve inspect/adjust) yesterday and today on my wife's 10 TSX.

Everything went well and Acura shop manual was excellent for procedures.

I found intake valves w/I spec and only adjusted 2 exhaust valves that were tight or no entry on 10 mil blade of feeler gauge. I used the long blades w/ short 45 degree angle on tip. They worked OK, but a short straight blade might work better. Longer blade is too flexible and difficult to get any insertion force.

Spark plugs (NGK Iridiums) were still w/I spec for gap so maybe someone had changed them earlier. I bought car at about 70K miles. I replaced w/ same NGK iridiums.

I replaced valve cover gasket, bolt gasket/washers, and spark plug tube seals. Gasket was in good shape but spark plug tube seals were rock hard, as were gasket/washer assys.

I encountered only one minor headache. There are two small 6mm bolts (10mm socket size) that hold a vacuum line/wring harness bracket to the drivers side of valve cover. They must be released to allow valve cover removal. Getting them out was no problem and re-installing most forward bolt was easy enough. However the rear bolt is blocked by a wiring harness cover and only can be started by hand. After various strategies (bolt jammed in socket, bolt bare handed, etc), I had to cry "uncle" and depend on front bolt alone. Problem is aligning the bracket and inserting the bolt w/ only two hands. I tried aligning and tightening forward bolt to "lock" the bracket, but this didn't work either.

I'll try again later.
