Stock TL-S Dyno results (at elevation 5200 ft)

Finally got my '07 TL-S on the dyno before the mods begin. Keep in mind that this is bone stock, in Albuquerque, at 5200 feet above sea level..

yes.. it is.. sorry.. I was trying to upload the video, but photobucket is crapping out on me...

5AT.. did full throttle in 3rd gear, since 4th near red line hit some sort of limiter.

Still trying to get the video uploaded somewhere. Once done, I'll post a link.

Are the numbers really that low for a TL-S? I was expecting like 240ish

Sweet, I have a base run to compare to now. I have some mods and I wanted to do a dyno run as well. Where did you get yours done here in Albuquerque? Using the same dyno, we can probably get a pretty good idea of the gains or non gains of the mods.

i am sure the altitude played a part in #'s

In 4th gear, i too also hit some kind of "limiter".. but my biggest torque numbers were in 4th gear

i ran 273hp/221tq in 3rd gear
i ran 230hp/250tq in 4th gear

Altitude definitely plays a part. Driving from Phoenix to Albuquerque, I can notice an amazing amount of difference going from roughly over a 1000+ft in Phoenix to 5200+ft in Albuquerque. It get's even worse going from Albuquerque up to northern new mexico/colorado 6500 ft and beyond......a lot of empty RPMS, no pull, pretty much feels equivalent to a runner sucking wind and getting nowhere, running in place.

Interesting with the limit in 4th gear.......is it at a certain speed or RPM, say over 130mph and at 5250 RPM?

I had the similar problem.

Good numbers.

One thing I am so suprised at is winter weather vs summer weather. When it was cold here I could not help but have the tire break loose and now I can not help but get traction.

my dyno sheet is in my car, i should take a look at it.. i think the RPMs cut off at like 5k RPM in 4th gear... and after that, all my VSA/ABS lights went mad.... as soon as i drove about 1/2 mile from the dyno, they all cleared out... this happened both times i dyno'ed in 3rd/4th gear....

thats what great about the east coast... LOW elevation!

Geez.. where ya been?? I kept posting in the "Meets" thread last year, and finally gave up. I know there are a few TL-S in ABQ/NM, but no one ever responded..

Anyways.. I was referred to Motiva by a buddy from work. They are on Comanche, just East of 25. They are in a business complex, and located in the back (you'll miss it if you're just looking at the store fronts along Comanche). If you go, ask for Dave (in fact, call before you go for a Dyno so they can schedule you, and request to have Dave do the Dyno). Tell Dave that the Carbon Bronze TL Type S guy sent you (Ken). He was interested in the car, because it was the first TL-S on his Dyno.

Not too long ago, Dave took over the shop (it was going downhill, from others were saying). He turned the shop around and runs a clean business (although I have been told time and time again to ONLY ask for Dave).

Perhaps we can meet up?? WooHoo!! We can have our own Acura meet (with 2 people... so far)

I should have paid more attention to what he said.. I think he said it was 120-something mph, but no where near red line... it boggled him.. I just thought it was the speed limiter and didn't think anything of it...

Finally got the video uploaded.. I love the sound of VTEC when it kicks in...

Ha....I never hit up that thread because I never really see that many people on the boards from here. I've pretty much just bookmarked the Performance Parts & Modifications thread and pretty much go straight there every time.....guess I need to open my eyes to the other threads a little bit.

Thanks for the info on the shop.....I'm going to try get an appointment at the end of this week or the beginning of next. We should have a little meet some time and compare dynos.

When do you even go over 135 racing other cars? When i run other cars i usually shut it down a little bit over triple digits.

It was a buddy of mine that is a tech at the local acura dealership here. It was late one night and we were on the highway with no traffic in front of us. So we opened them both up. Both are automatic. From the hole I would get him by about a car and half. He would start to creep back around 75 but as soon as 135 came he pasted me.

The highways in south Florida are all straight so its not really a big deal.

My RSX trapped in the 120's so breaking the double digits isn't really a big deal, and to be honest, I would rather go 130 in the TL than in the RSX anyday.

So to answer you question, you break into triple digits when you are racing fast cars. To bad the TL isn't fast But when I would race my RSX every race was to around 130 - 140

The 6MT TLs dynos in the 250 HP range at around sea level, right? anyone know the baseline for a 5AT TLs? You ever do a baseline, Black? I'm thinkin it must be close to the same, since your mods get you in the 270's....which is f@ckin great!
