Laser Iridium will probably last longer. But there aren't really any performance differences between the Iridium and Platinum's. I'd recommend the Iridium's. I recently checked mine, which have 50K miles, and they looked practically new with exception to a bit of carbon buildup which came right off with a bit of minor cleaning.

You absolutely want the NGK Laser Iridium IZFR6K11. No need to sway from OEM on plugs. That said, they really only need to be replaced every 105k.

if you dont' change til 105k, check your spark plugs around 70k and make sure they are still torqued down. some members on here had issues at 70k with certain cylinder spark plugs loosening up and it ended up doing some major damage. i replaced mine at 70k just to be conservative.

^ This. At 50K when I removed them to do an inspection and cleaning, I had two that were loose enough to turn by hand.

+1 on this... One of my sparkplugs out of my 99 Accord v6 shot out of it's socket as I was driving home one day. My car sounded like a lawnmower all the way home.. I was sure that I bent a piston or broke the head or stripped the threads but luckily a new spark plug torqued down with ease. Check yo'self!

Spark plugs turning out is a nightmare. Had mine happen around the 60k mark which is absolutely ridiculous IMO. Check them every 30k miles, if you do hard driving, check every 20k miles to make sure everything is all torqued down properly.

Helicoiling a cylinder head sucks.

You'd think, but probably not enough to be noticeable. The amount of compression loss would be insignificant since the plug threads would be pushed up against the block threads during the compression stroke, essentially sealing off the opening enough to go unnoticed. But over time, as the plug experiences vacuum and compression over and over and over, the plug can start to loosen.

I'd check yours if I were you.

Pop your coil packs off and do a quick tighten on yours. I can guarantee one of yours is at least somewhat loose. Be sure to make sure #2 and #5 are good to go.

208k on plugs? Please tell me you at least did your timing belt at some point in the last 100k.

Wow! I didn't know this was a widespread problem. Sounds like a few of you got lucky; we got a v6 accord in that did this, and pieces of the plug got into the cylinder and broke a chunk off the edge of the piston. They had to be browbeaten, but the local dealer finally took care of it for free.

Use iridium if you want to push the 105k interval.

I use regular copper plugs for under $2 each and there's no difference in performance. I don't believe in leaving plugs in for that many miles and with the known problem of plugs loosening and the time it takes to get a socket on them to check them you could replace them. I like to know what's going on in the combustion chamber and I don't want the plugs seizing up from being in there too long.

Iridium is for extended intervals. If you plan to change every 50-60k, regular plugs will easily go that far with no issues. My last set had 60k and they looked perfect when I took them out.

I changed my plugs yesterday at 92k the front and rear middle plugs were loose, I could turn the extension and socket by hand. I guess these must be #2 and #5 like someone else mentioned. I torqued the new ones to 13ft/lbs with a bit of anti seize. I think I will check them next year for tightness.

Pix of the sparks. Was it wet oil? If so your ring land are probably gone.

It's the valve cover seals. Replace the gasket and seals as justin has recommended. You can get a kit with all the pieces included.
