Spacer and AEM intake problem
Has anyone been able to get the AEM intake to stay in place after they installed the p2r spacer? It wouldn't fit right so I had to take out the rubber cushion that connects to the little arm on the AEM intake and replace it with nothing but a nut and bolt. Well, it was working fine but the nut and bolt have since broken loose and now it makes a weird noise from where the arm is scratching the engine bay.
Someone please help me! Give me some ideas or tell me how you handled it.

i had no luck.
i tried to "REVERSE" my vibra- mount (the rubber spacer) and it worked, until it rattled and fell off, and i lost it on the parkway
so i simply bought a small bolt, 2 washers, and a 10mm nut... and hand torque the intakes little metal "arm" to the cars frame.. and i torqued it ttiiigghhtt.. that was about, 4 weeks ago. still sturdy as the day i did it

Thanks to both of you I guess I will just do what I did before but this time REALLY torque it down. Thanks again I will let you know what happened. Also didn't someone say something about an aftermarket throttle body coming out. It was posted about 6 months ago though. Also I don't know how helpful that would be for these cars in the na form??? Sorry to get off subject.

its extremely important that you guys torque these screws. You will not need locktite, just make sure to torque them properly. What you have to do, if you don't have the manual is without the TB spacer on slowly (its takes patience) get a torque rachet and start on the stock bolts at 20 ft ibs. If it clicks then move up 5 ft ibs. Do this until you see the screw turning slightly. Then go down about 5 ft ibs and then that should be the right torque for the TB spacer. I should be getting mine soon, so if you guys are interested I will put the exact torque of the TB spacer. I did this for a Progress RSB and so far no problems or issues. Its on there tight!

Please post torque for the TB nuts/bolts. I'd be interested in making sure mine are correct.

The piece that extends from the cai to the rubber mount, with the p2R in the only way I could get it to fit was to bend the metal piece just slightly and then got it in with a tight fit

yea I was gonna say u gut like a half inch off and you should be ok that vibration mount should only be slightly shaky before u tighten it down. When you do tighten it only make it slightly tighter than hand tight because you will snap the metal support at the weld point on the intake, Ive done it.

Well I got it in. The only thing is that I was not able to get the vibration mount in. I used a bolt two regular washers and a lock washer to hold it down and obiously a nut. It seems fine to me. I'm not really all that worried about it. I may try and mess with it this weekend?

^^ torque it tightly!!
you will notice some steering wheel/pedal vibrations.. because the intake vibrates, and if you mount it to the cars frame without the rubber bushing vibra mount, you will feel some vibrations.... i feel it in my car...
also , do yourself a favor, make sure the bend of the intake going under the battery is NOT touching any part of the car frame, or you will get funny metal rattling sounds

I installed my K&N that I had on my '05 TL on my '07 TL-S. Also have the P2R. I had the great guys at NAPA cut off about an inch of the intake tube, and still had clearance problems with the battery. So I bought the 15lb. Braille battery which solved the problem, and I shaved about 30 lbs. off the front end to boot.
