Hey guys! Having bought an 07 TL type S in July, I was wonderin for all you guys in the LA area if you could help suggest a few GOOD dyno places around the town. Preferably lookin for a place that is cool w/ new guys. Address, phone number, any contact person you guys use would be cool! Also if you have a ballpark price for the place that'd be awesome as well! Thanks guys.

Haha, sorry for the nooobnesss but what exactly is a dynopack and how's that different than a regular dyno run?? It doesn't give an accurate WHP?

Even though you take your wheels off you are still measuring whp.

not really, but it's close. I've dyno'ed on a dynapack there. I'ts closer to flywheel HP. It's Horsepower "TO THE WHEELS". Where a dynojet is horsepower "TO THE GROUND" (which people also consider WHP) which takes into account wheel size, weight, tires (& air pressure) & wheel slip...so it can be less accurate, yet dynojet is realistic of what you're putting down to the ground. Dynapack eliminates possible wheel/tire error (& power loss), because it bolts directly to ur wheel hubs, so it has a greater accuracy, but will read a HIGHER HP than dynojet.

A dynapack is good for tracking gains for performance mods & tuning. A dynojet will give you raw numbers on ponies ur laying out on the ground.

An example;
...................06 5AT TL FACTORY RATING............DYNAPACK................DYNOJET
...................................258 HP..........................+/- 225 HP...............+/- 205 HP

No worries JOE, I got it!

Church's Automotive Testing
300 Quay Ave.
Wilmington, CA 90744
(310) 518-4966

OH, and price is about 60 or 70 bucks for 3 runs
Call ahead just to make sure u wont wait around.
I think type s MT lays out somewhere in the 250 hp range on a Dynojet...which is really good! Curious to see how one does on a dynapack.
BTW; Church's only does dynapack.

aaah thank you guys! cleared a bit up on that topic i'll try to make an apt with them this coming week when i fly back into LA and i'll be sure to post my numbers! they give you the dyno results (that i see all over this site) yes? like is it a printout chart that i can scan?

so lets say that i bring my stock car in and it cranks out a certain number "X" (lets say 250) where the manufacturer says that it is 286.

do i just associate "X" equivalent to the stock number? and then with additional boosts from performance mods, is it a ratio change on the stock number (10 hp gain, 250/286 = 260/x?) or is it just a raw HP increase (10 hp gain, 250-->260 = 286-->296)? although the difference in calculating it would be very minuscule, which would be the "proper" method?

that aside, if i were to dyno it on both a dynapack vs a conventional dynojet, would the performance increases in HP be different due to the method of the dyno machine? or would both show an equal boost in HP?

thanks guys!! - kevin
