Unhappy It smells!!

I think my cat is starting to back up because the sulfur smell is getting really bad. Can you replace the cat with a strait pipe or would there not be enough back pressure? i don't want to start blowing codes on the car. An if so where can i get my hands on a high flow cat and for how much?

Are you running CAI and/or exhaust? Doing a 3rd cat removal will not throw any codes, but the thing is if you are N/A having an exhaust but no CAI and doing a 3rd cat removal MAY cause loss of backpressure.

If you want a High flow cat, E-shift is a manufacturer but I believe they are having issues as you may have seen on this forum. I would recommend trying to locate some TL type-S cats, that will def. be good.

I know whenever I am WOT all the from stop to 100mph or so... I will get that smell. And that was when the car was stock and with a cai+ exhaust.. I think its just because the cats are really heating up. I believe its normal.

wouldnt removing the 3rd cat just increase power instead of decreasing power since the 3rd cat is just there to inhibit the flow of the exhaust?

even my tl-s, gets the egg/sulfur smell sometimes when im not going full WOT, but being a little spirited. probably sometime to do with ULEV and the cats on these cars... i wouldnt sweat it..

your OEM cats are supposed to go without failure for 80k miles. I think some shops are required to report it to like the DMV or something if an OEM cat fails before that time frame (somebody correct me if im wrong)

Have you tried showering before getting into your car? j/k Sorry I just had to say it.

I noticed that on my car, when I drive the car a little hard when it's warming up, I get the Sulfur smell and at no other times.

Do you get the sulfur smell all the time or just when you car is warming up and you push it?

when my car gets a cold start.. the whole surrounding 10ft radius smells like gasoline/emissions

the addition of a straight-through catback is the main reason why the smell has increased.. all cars smell like that upon cold-start ignition, its just really really noticeable on my TL-S

Yeah it only smells when i get on it but i really don't remember it ever being like that and know it is just getting worse
I have 72000 miles on my baby and i understand about the back pressure issue that's why i was wondering if i just took it off if i would have some problem blowing codes from the o 2?

My 04 AT just turned 90k and I've recently been smelling the rotten eggs too. I asked a Honda mech about it and he said that it is normal for them to build up some stuff in there and then burn it off after the cat gets good and hot. I notice it after a good long WOT run and when I have the sunroof open or vented. I don't always notice it, so I figure its just that I've gotten used to the car and am driving it a little harder these days (i've had it for 10 months now). Also, with the weather getting nice again, I find that I open the roof more often. I'm sure that if it is build-up from not getting blown out enough, that it won't be much of a problem anymore.
