RSX-S Shifter

I am looking to shorten the throw on my stock shifter, but still retain a decent almost OEM feel to it.
I heard a rumor 4 years ago that the RSX shifter can be bolted right on our cars and that it has almost 40% reduced throw over the stock TL-S shift.

I haven't been able to find any articles about it online, but has anyone done this mod or can anyone confirm that this works?

Why not just spend the $65-$70 and buy the CT Engineering Short Shifter that serves the same purpose. Just curious. Not nacking what your trying to do. Had I even heard about this I would have tried it. When I still had my accord I put a prelude shiter in my accord and it did shorten the throw considerably

That's why I said this. There is no point in making something harder than it needs to be.

+1 for Cs shoft shifter. I installed one the other day works like a charm and feels wonderful. My plan is to now get a weighted shift knob , shifter bushings and stainless steel clutch line. Most people say this combination changes a lot with the paired with synchro mesh the car feels like a different car.

I just did the slave cylinder minus the check valve ,SS clutch line and the hybrid shifter bushings. I still have to do the CT Short shifter and Torque solutions shifter box base bushings when I have time to install it. How long did it take you to install?

ah yes I have to do the slave cylinder check valve delete mod I forgot about that but I'm a little worried I would be able to do it. I would also have to look into shifter box bushings I didn't know about that for our cars.

it took me about 1 and 1/2 hr and I cut my finger bad there is a lot of sharp metal down in the center console when you remove all the plastics etc.

Another thing to note... the stock shift knob can screw down a bit farther than it sits from the factory. It's not a true short throw shifter, but doesn't move as far, since it's a bit shorter. I personally like the lower feel, and it's a free mod. I used a tap to thread it the rest of the way... even though it's plastic, it'll probably be pretty hard to get it to thread farther with just the threads of the shifter. The first pic is the stock height, the 3rd shows it threaded all the way down so the taper in the plastic is against the taper in the metal. The last pic shows it all back together (subtly shorter).

I saw a thread on the Accord forums where they were drilling/tapping TL shift knobs to fix their awkwardly tall stock Accord shifters, so if you want it extremely short, you could do that... but it's definitely not necessary on our cars. This is the thread: Short Shifter (Acura TL Knob) - Drive Accord Honda Forums , but it's been Photobucketed... so attached is a PDF of the post.

If you're going to go through the trouble of tearing out the center console to swap out shifter assemblies, then why not just spend the extra buck and get a K Tuned billet shifter assembly?

I have talked with Marcus several times about this and he stated that for what your spending the $65 dollar option does exactly what the $390 option does but looks pretty

Reason for asking, I have two shifters from an 04 type-s and an 05 type-s in my garage and I wasn't sure if I could put them to some use.
Thanks for the reviews. The CT shifter looks like my next buy.

Your very welcome. What I would do is take the 2 shifters and see if you can have something built in the future. have someon that works on shifters to cross engineer the 2 together

I have a Mugen CL7 shifter in my TL, which is amazing, but Mugen doesn't make them anymore. The K-Tuned shifter is the best option that's available.
