Rotor

Hey Everyone,

Ive done some searches but cant find an answer.
Do the 5AT and 6MT have the same size rotor? I know they have different calipers but do they have the same rotor? Im planning to do a caliper swap so I need as much info as possible. Thanks

No the 6MT and 5AT front brake rotors are different diameter and thickness.

Automatic transmission -Ventilated, 11.4 in (300 mm) diameter; 1.1 in (28 mm) rotor thickness Manual transmission - Brembo ventilated, 12.2 in (310 mm) diameter, 0.98 in (25 mm) rotor thickness

The calipers, rotors, and suspension uprights are all different, to name a few. The total parts price for everything has been posted before (try search) and it is not cheap. The pads alone are several hundred $.

The brakes on the 5AT's I've driven are firmer than my Brembos and the reported stopping distances are nearly identical. The biggest advange would come in race track conditions, where the stiffer Brembo calipers will keep the pads in better contact with the rotors at extreme conditions.

You need to buy everything. The Brembo brakes are totally different from the 5AT setup. It's going to be expensive to change brakes. Are you sure you really want to do that swap? There are plenty of aftermarket choices also if you want to go that route.

i completely agree. look at all your aftermarket options. there are better BBK out there, imo. if you have to sell your pads, so be it. you won't lose much money if it's brand new.

El mismo, mas o menos

They are not only different, but most testing has shown the 5AT stops shorter than the 6MT.

The Brembos are there for fade resistance under extreme use. They don't stop any better.

Full braking with ABS is not limited by the brakes but rather the tire contact patch and composition. Both systems are capable of easily locking the wheels but for the intervention of the ABS which is the same on both models.

i'd suggest swapping the rotors as well... just to be sure. brakes are a huge safety issue. better to spend a few extra $$ to make sure it's 100% compatible.
