Replaced mid resonator with Tanabe MT resonator

Just replaced mid oem resonator with smaller one from Tanabe Medallion Touring catback system. It came from Tanabe MT exhaust system when I had my TSX. Exhaust tone got little meatier and more close to G35s now. Also saves some weight.

Custom stage...? Is it straight through or what?

Prob sounds. Like stage 2.5 in between 2 and 3

i believe they were 2.5" diameter. straight through with less resonating material than the oem. swapped it out to give little more tone to the exhaust note but it changed the engine characteristic too. revs up much faster and feels like it lost some torque (maybe it lost some backpressure) on the low end (below 2.5k rpm). but past 3k it revs up like 4 banger.

since it's so long, i'd imagine it'll tone it down a bit? probably get a raspier sound

actually its about two inch shorter than the oem resonator and it got little louder than without no raspy noise. more closer to g35 exhaust hum.

drove around more and throttle is much more responsive and rev climbs up without hesitation. wasn't expecting this much of change by replacing the oem resonator.

ehh i wouldnt chalk that up to your resonator, that's more in your head than you think.

hehe i remember when i added the TB spacer i felt like i was WAYYY faster... if anything the sound is the first thing to fool you; and then your mind does the rest.

post a sound clip if you can (tho i know sound clips really do no custom setup justice)

and if you're happy, GREAT!

well i didn't feel anything with the TB spacer. no butt dyno gain at all. but this resonator replacement changed engine's rev characteristic. any average driver won't notice the sound gain either. will post sound clip when i get my point and shoot camera back.

HMMM, Interesting. I am surprised you noticed a difference in tone with just a change in resonator and still having the mid-muffler. My first exhaust mod was just deleting the factory resonator. I noticed no real difference in sound. I did notice a difference once I removed the mid-muffler and put the Dynomax resonator on...

he has a Jpipe and 3rd cat removed. That's probably the difference.

i think so too. header and cat delete plays alot on exhaust note. wasn't really expecting this kind of change too. guess the oem resonator is very restrictive even though its a straight flow design.

oh yea that is definitely why then... if you removed the mid muffler it would probably get raspy like a stage 4
