XLR8 J-Pipe Installed, now vibration?

Took delivery of excelerate's j-pipe and installed it next day. Dam the car freakin pulls now. Billy Boats done a great job on the welding, very clean and fitment is perfect.

After i put on the j-pipe i noticed a very strong vibration when in drive or reverse. I thought it needed to be warmed up..i drove around a bit, even at stop lights i'm getting the vibration. You guys think its the stiffer flex section/pipe restricting the motor from moving as much?

I always had a vibration at a stop light, but not this bad...I hope its not the engine mounts...i was going to buy a tranny cooler with my next check )=

is it the center console, if so could be the higher exhaust note +the vibration you were already feeling

i'd say get back in contact with excelerate and look into the purchase of the motor mounts because technically the tl has a pretty quiete cabin at idle/reverse

^ ^ agreed. probably higher exhaust tone that's causing the vibration...

Did you try to refit your pipe? I mean realign it at the flanges? Did you use any high temp silicone? Again at the joints? I haven't had a chance to put mine in yet. Thats why I am asking....

Could be a few things:

1. Bad mounts - since you already had a vibration
2. The j-pipe hanger isn't mounted correctly and is touching something.
3. Misalignment - loosen up the bolts and move the j-pipe around and make sure it isn't touching anything and then re-tighten.

No need to make a gasket; just use some high temp silicone on the flanges.

Any update on the vibration and leakage issues? Also, why you would not use gaskets when installing this?

So the car pulls much better now? I hope you fix the vibration, I am considering this relatively cheap REAL power upgrade. I don't like CAI.
