Rear muffler delete - ALMOST happy!
Rear muffler delete - ALMOST happy!
Hey guys, so I decided to just go with a rear muffler delete, and I was completely happy with it. However, here's the catch.. My car sounds beautiful.. U til it hits about 300-3200 rpms. Then the growl seems to just die down and basically goes back to a stock sound. Iv heard that when people did the mid muffler delete that, basically it sounded the same until it hit about 300-3500 rpms. SO to get that nice gnarly sound but just whenever I floor it, would I just have to do a complete muffler delete and get rid of all my mufflers? Also I paid 350 for him to pretty much make the stock pipe into a 2.5" and got a set of duals, so now it's got quad exhaust (the tips wre 100 each so it was about 150 in labor for anyone who's wondering about just doing a muffler delete) my other question is that I asked him if they sold resonators, and he said they did and I asked him if what kind of tone my car would get with one of their mufflers, and he basically said it would make no difference changing my resonator? So is it just the dynonax and (megaflow I think it was the per one for stage 3?) that will actually give me a more significant change in sound? I want to get a slight rasp but iv seen people who did the stage 4 and some went completely wrong. So I want to get a resonator that will give me slight rasp (as well as the mid muff delete on top of the rears being done.) Lemme know what you guys think!
I deleted my rear mufflers first, it sounded like stock but louder. Then I replaced the stock resonator with a Dynomax 24215. The tone is much more aggressive. I left the mid muffler on so there is very little rasp. No resonator is too raspy, a smaller one does the trick.
I didnt delete my rear mufflers but I did replace the rears with magnaflow muffs 11365 and deleted mid muff and replaced stock res with dynomax 24235 and now im still wanting MOAR!! next on the list is full 2.5" exhaust tubing with dynomax short res and still use the mag rears.
Did you guys notice a acceleration loss in your low end? I find between 0-3000 rpms ( which is also when I get my most sound) I don't have my same acceleration. I'm thinking of deleting the mid and doing a smaller resonator. The car sounds nice at lower rpms but iv got that acceleration issue now as well as that I don't get the sound after 300-3200 rpms which can be a bit disappointing but if you're driving around town I'm usually driving slow so it turns heads ESP with the CAI since it has that air suction sound if you pump your pedal two or three times (just small taps) before you let the clutch off.. I find if you dont pump it for the slight spike in revs then you don't hear the air being sucked in NEARLY as much as when you just work your gas and clutch slowly
