Question about XLR8 exhaust

I've done a little research, but assuming I get the xlr8 j pipe/exhaust for an '06 TL do I have to get a test pipe or can I just get those two parts? I really don't know that much so if you could help out thatd be appreciated

If you get the the xlr8 exhaust with the v2 jpipe you do not need a test pipe. If you get the the v1 jpipe you will need a test pipe.

My recommendation is to get the v2 because its the latest and greatest.

^ As Yvuru mentioned, our V2 J-Pipe offers better fitment, more ground clearance, deletes the third cat, and is overall a better option. With our V2 Jpipe there is no need to purchase a test pipe separately.

I appreciate the info. I guess my main concern is that I still have to pass emissions. Will that set up cause me to fail? I read somewhere that only precat deletes will do that but I want to be sure before I make the investment

you can pass emissions with HFPCs and no 3rd cat in california which is one of the strictest states if not the strictest.

you will have no problem with emissions by eliminating the 3rd car with a new jpipe. no reason to keep your stock one, you'll never have to switch it back for emissions (visual maybe, but not on emissions)
