Question about CT supercharger kit
Question about CT supercharger kit
I'm looking to buy a used supercharger kit for my 04 TL as soon as I find one for sale in my area. The only thing I'm woried about is tuning the car so the motor will last. The kit comes with a plug in ACM unit. Is this all that is needed to time the car? Can a shop tune the stock ecu on the dyno or will I need a new ecu? If anyone can give me some Info or link me to another thread that would be great thanks!

Hope is still there for us 04-06 guys for Hondata. With the TL 07-08 release, people are in the early stages for these trials and errors as Flashpro was just released and people just started getting it in the mail last week. So hold on to your project and see how this plays out.
There's a lot of countless threads on this. Out of the box, the comptech kit was made to be put on a STOCK TL. The way the kit is isn't perfect to say the least.. Will you have a surge problem ? Possibly, can you live with it? Yes
Once you start messing around like High boost pulley (Which is a no no) but rule of thumb is injectors, meth, dyno tune ect ect.
If you look at Eric's TL, he has put on roughly 100K on his supercharger, tested it as is without upgrading ECU, Injectors ect. He has an inter cooler to help with intake temps, but he is a true testament to the reliability.
I plan on running my S/C the way it is with the ACM. I know a lot of people who ran their kits as is for 2-3 years without problems. If you plan on long term then do some upgrades if you plan on using it for a little then selling it, then use it as it.

^ agree
OP justn implemented AEM FIC before the ACM. The MS3 works its just there is hardly no customer support on tuning. It is a learn and DIY system. However, you can find memebers on here you could possibly help you with that if you do take that route. Do more research.

As hi-speed said, if you have exhaust mods as in precat deletes, j-pipe and exhaust you will have little next to non of the surge. He said his surge went away once he did precats deletes. I drove a 04 MT SC TL w/comptech exhaust only and it surged like 4 out of 10 times you slowly went from 1,500 to 3,000 rpms. I'm sure if he did a CAI, removed the coolant lines going to the TB and more exhaust work he would have a better running car, but it was something I can live with. Remember 90% of the time you will be driving out of boost.
I went against AEM FIC just because it was very hard in our area to find a tuner who can dyno tune and do it correct. (I'm from NJ). I called someone today who can install the kit who is by south amboy (mike at E-pro), they do a before and after dyno run, look at your fuel trims ect ect make sure its all good and adjust if needed. He's done a lot of kits, however again its expensive but peace of mind at the same time. Your call, about what to do. If the kit comes with the ACM from CT then use that for a while before switching over to AEM.. You may not like your car boosted and decide to sell... Anyway best of luck man!

Eric started that thread. Sometimes his inbox is full. Also talk to Hispeed and imfamouslink, they can answer all your remaining questions.

Hi run the supercharger kit with ACM since 1 and half year and no problem with it except surge sometimes when the ecu jump between closed and open loop. and... I forgot, the paint is flaking out of the rotors .... THis is another story.
