Pulstar pulse plugs

So I just installed a set of the Pulstar Pulse plugs on my tl (79k).. On the info sheet that comes with the plugs it says " on most cars allow at least 1 tank of gas for the onboard computer to lear the characteristics of the new plugs".. I have had them in for 1 full tank now and this morning im on the freeway and i drop down to 3rd to go and my car strarts sputtering and the check engine starts blinking. I get off the freeway on the light turns off, i take off from about 2500 and my car bogs like its misfiring.. any suggestions or experiences???? I also had a friend who bought the plugs and put them in his 07 IS350 and he had the same issues for a few tanks and now they work great

the plugs have been proven to make power in the latest civic si's and lexus is models. however, i lost 1 hp across the board over old oem ngk iridiums that i replaced. pulstar = FAIL in the tsx. I HOPE YOU HAVE BETTER LUCK

Not really familar with the Pulstar Pulse Plugs besides hearing them on the radio. You should've just went NGK Iridium Spark Plugs, best for our TL's.

Next time when I have to change plugs, I'll go with Iridium IX... a step up from stock NGK Iridium

All together came to around $130, i used my friends 20% future purchases coupon.. I disconnected my neg cable so that the cpu would reset (i looked up some convo's about spark plugs on other threads). The check engine light is off and so i took it for a spin.. HUGE DIFFERENCE. I hopped on the freeway and gunned it and there is noticable difference in the acceleration and high end.. BAD NEWS.. check engine light came back on.. so confused.. im going to pull them out and make sure that they are gapped correctly.. i installed 3 while my bro installed the other 3.. when i asked if he gapped them he had a clueless look on his face before giving me a"oh yea, gap, yea i did it" so we'll see..

As godfather posted above the gains (or in his case loss) were negligible. Just stick to the factory platinum plugs or Denso Iridiums.

My buddy thoroughly tested the pulstar plugs and they 100% do what they claim. You can physically see the arc from that thing in the dark, just by looking at them you can tell that the cycle strength is much stronger than NGK Iridiums.

You need to pull the codes and find out which cylinder/s are misfiring. I believe the plugs have 50k mile warranty. My guess is the most likely culprit is the coil connection, make sure the harnesses are plugged in securely. Also, the electrode is spring loaded so turn the coil over the plug until you feel it click and then fasten down the coil.

If it's not that then it's probably a bad plug or coil. I'd do a check on each one. Too bad the install didn't go without a hitch. I've had a few hiccups on plugs as well. I was going to install pulstar's but they're too pricey for me and the NGK's are good enough and a fraction of the price. I hope you get issue resolved.

btw.. you have the BE-1's right?

I pulled out the plugs and the gap is supposed to be at .040 and they were all around .030.. I set to correct gap and reinstalled all of the pluggs.. no difference, check engine light blinks and misfires. I checked with another friend who installed these plugs and his advice sounded pretty far fetched but this is what we did. I took out 4 of the pulstars and reinstalled the ngk's.. To my amaze, no check engine, no rough idle and no misfires.. he claimed that installing 2 now another 2 in a week or so and then another 2 in 2 weeks after would do the job. I laughed at him at first but it works so far.. we will see how it goes when i drop the other two in 2 weeks.. and correct, i do have the BE-1s.

alright.. I did some studying and it seems like the pulstar plugs are very fragile and the QA over there is not very good. There are MANY people with the exact same issue.. okay at idle but a little throttle and flashing CEL / Misfires.

The trick is to be careful when installing the plugs as not to damage them. The fix is to get replacement plugs from Pulstar (should be free of charge). Almost everyone says that once they're actually running well.. they are seeing +2mpg & improvement in low end torque (butt dyno).

I appreciate the extra info , I think that I will be able to isolate a faulty plug when i install the next set. If I start having problems, I will replace one and see what happens.. Hopefully i do find one and I'll ship that badboy back. So far so good with the headscratchin installation method..

Ok guys.. i finally got to the bottom of the problem.. i installed the next two.. my car ran fine, so then i install the next two and it starts misfiring and what not. I swap out the two plugs and found that 2 of the plugs were bad. I called Pulstar and they are sending me another 2 free of any cost. CANT WAIT!!!

Keep the OEM plugs. They last 120k, per Acura.

hey guys, sorry its been a while since i could get on to post anything.. but anyhow.. I had all 6 plugs in for about 2 weeks and it ran excellent. I was very satisfied and with a full tank I got about 320miles out of it.. but thats not all.. HERE WE GO AGAIN!! after about 2 weeks, I was on the way home and about to put the smashin on an eclipse and when I punched it.. my car began to misfire and the check engine light came on once again. Same as before. DAMN!! I went home, took out the same two plugs (cylinders 4&6) and swapped out with stock and just as before it ran fine. I called Pulstar and told them what happened and they sent me two more. Im getting really tired of this and am about to just say they arent for me and get my refund from the seller on ebay. I really dont want to since i experienced the difference. I would rather not deal with the headache.. this blows!! i wish i had good news to report fellas..

damn.. that sucks.. especially against an eclipse.

If it wasn't for the price.. I'd probably get them.. but now.. no way. I'm glad they are treating you right and honoring the 50k warranty. Do you have to send the bad plugs back to them? It might be worth it to get them x-ray'd to see what's going on.. Too bad they don't make the over the plug lifetime warrantied set for our vehicles.. heck I'm not sure they are even marketing those anymore.. well.. thanks for the follow-up!
