I was probably one of the first people to have navi conversion figured out. I started the idea of the LEDs. I started the idea of the freaking doorsill project for cryin out loud. By the way my parents help cover me the rest for my vette to fill in the gap from the insurance money and as a graduation type present. you my friend, are an idiot.

FYI, that was me, using a different account while I was out of town on my friend's laptop (that's his account on AZ). I've been here a year longer than you have and have nearly 7,000 posts... I never use that as a defense or anything, because join date and post counts do not and cannot accurately measure someone's level of knowledge, skills, expertise or opinions, but since that's what you wanted to argue about, I figured I would throw it out there.

So by your logic, if someone's idiocy level depends on how long they've been on the forum, then you're a bigger idiot than me, because I've been here longer. Makes no sense to me, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

My opinion on this matter was based on the facts -- you're 18 with a TL who wanted to turbocharge it.. how cliche. "I'm going to turbocharge it." After The Fast and The Furious, it seems like that's what EVERYONE says. "Future mods; turbocharger kit." "I'm going to turbocharge it."

Then suddenly, that dream is tossed, you get into an accident and now you have a Vette... which you said your parents helped you out on, but previously you said your parents didn't pay for anything and you made money by yourself selling fake IDs to afford your TL.

Made no sense to me, hence the reason I called BS.

 

wtf fast and the furious? I dont even recall in the movie of a turboed anything besides a supra which comes with a turbo from the factory. I did remember an over exaggeration of the use of NOS and of spraying but besides that from what I can recall, I dont remember anybody turbocharging anything in the movie, though I could very well be wrong having only seen the 1st movie once and thinking it was blasphemous(sp) and misleading in terms of street racing. I never onced even thought about turbocharging the TL until I brought my friend to go pick up his Camaro from SpeedTek and had my other friend's dad (who owns the place) want to look at it. Then he asked me if I ever thought about Turboing it. cliche my ass ....If it was so cliche you would see cars everywhere with turbos. If your referring to those civics and ricers with NOS stickers and "turboed" stickers on them w/ fart exhausts big enough to stick you head in, I guarantee you like 9 out of 10 of those are not turboed. Theyre may be a couple sleepers but most of those people cant even afford turbos .

What does my age have anything to do with anything. Does your age automatically win you this argument? If I was 45 years old, could I use that in this argument? and again, I will say it one LAST time. The money my parents helped me with on my Corvette WAS MY GRADUATION PRESENT, asshole. My parents dont just hand me money for no reason on a regular basis. Why cant I get it through your fat head? PART of my TL WAS paid for with money I made. I never said I paid for all of it based on that. Quit making me sound like Im saying I paid for it all by myself from making IDs. I didnt. I never said that. Not that its important, but Ill have you know I also create websites for local businesses, sell retail products on my website, have slightly over a $26,000 portfolio (which I started from a little under $14k) which also helped fund my TL.

jesus the amount of torque going to the front tires is going to be INSANE. Line jumping is going to have incredible torque steer. Well have fun with it lol. Im sure it will be a blast to drive. I heard comptech is making a supercharger kit for the 3gens. Hmmm, im thinking about it, but I hear that turbos and sc cut about 1/3 off engine life. This rumor valid?

I had 130K miles on my Grand Prix GTP with all stock internals before I traded it for the TL. Just modded pulley size. No problems with it.

 

what the hell is all this stupid crap about torque steer? do you people have some kind of weak arms or something? i've launched cars with 300whp and higher on FWD cars..that's 100 more whp than the TL..yes, i've felt torque steer, but holy crap, people just complain about this way too much. hold it straight and stiff and ti will be fine.

snails and blowers can cut more than 1/3 of the engine life. get a gt35r and have the wastegate at 3 bars and the engine should blow pretty quickly. you will be hitting about 700 whp with a 2 liter engine.

with a good tuner and a 400whp engine, it can last you a while. just retard the timings and run a high enough octane and you will be fine. i dont feel like getting into it, but if someone thinks that i am wrong, go ahead and attempt to prove me wrong.



IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURBO THE TL'S ENGINE BECAUSE THE BLOCK AND THE HEADERS ARE 1 PIECE. YOU ARE GOING TO NEED A CUSTOM BLOCK IN ORDER TO EVEN ATTEMPT THIS.

As for turbos and s/c cutting down the life of your engine, it is valid to a degree, but depends on how you drive, what you boost, how the engine is built, basically the entire setup and driving habits of the car, etc etc. Odds are, if you have a stock car, drive it nice, that it will last longer than a 700whp blown or turbo'd car, driven nicely also.

He is right about that block and headers being one piece, and as far as I know, Might be wrong, but each side has it's own cat as well. Hell of a design if you wanna do something cool with it. I am trying to find a 3.5L block to fit the Stock head and get that all to work, because I am also researching possible ways to turbo like the 2nd Gen Acura CL was on some previous threads from V6performance.net 425 whp on stock internals boosting 5.5lbs. Sounds pretty promising if you can find a way.
