project: production TL turbo kit

official 3G turbo thread I've been talking with my peers and have generated some excitement and interest with regards to making a production TL turbo kit. If it gets off the ground, there will be a lot of work ahead.

I need a show of hands of the people that would seriously be interested in a dependable, well built, easy to install(as possible) and safe(all else considered) turboed TL. I need to see who is really serious so I can get an idea of what the market is for us to do this and it be affordable enough/worth it to do.

As you know this is in the infant stages so anything can happen. I only hope that you guys see what I'm trying to do. Please don't be afraid to expand your knowledge in this field.....ask questions if you don't understand something.

Let the learning(we are all learning as we go) begin

I think that one of the attractions for the turbo is the fact that so many of the "other" cars have been done so inexpensively. If the Turbo puts out more HP AND cost less than the S/C options, I think you would have your hands full of orders. Just keep the whole package quality-based and under $3K and you will have a lot of takers.

I don't see a Turbo kit being under $3000 to be honest, unless you do a 25 person group buy, maybe.

im very serious. i have already contacted my people and are just waiting to find a vendor to sign on to the project. i will engineer the kit to be the perfect bolt on turbo kit we are all looking for. the customer will have a few options to work with for the stage he/she wants to run....i.e. turbo selection, downpipe size...ect. we will want to keep the kit upgradable for future room to improve power numbers according to what the end user sees fit. this will come in handy if you decide to fully build you block...ect.

CJ

we are going to test several setups to see what works best. there is alot of r&d that needs to be done and like i stated, its really early in the game. but it seems everybody is interested and the people that are pivital in making this happen are signing on, so lets keep our fingers crossed.

hmmm i think an intercooler should be considered as welll unlike the CTSC considering heat obviously plays one of the largest roles in power ... that would be awesome

im hoping by summertime we wil be done with r&d and eady to start mass producing the kit. really just depends on engine management issues. im not at liberty to say exactly what will be done with that(yet), but it will be done right!! im not gonna half ass something with my tame on it. this thing will be done right or it wont be done at all.

obviously this is just specutaion but once we get into building some prototypes we will know more. there are several options for this kit, smic, fmic and even no intercooler at all(using a very proven technique). we will know more in testing.

I'd be intersted if:

1) cheaper than CTSC
2) similar results to CTSC
3) if its just a simple bolt on (ie no other things need changed)

If we have to get an intercooler and this and that, CTSC might still be the way I'll go.

Lol, its gonna be kind of hard to run a turbo setup without an intercooler...wouldnt it?

Let's see how this pans out. Didn't some CTSC guys want the intercooler anyhow?

I'll definitely be down with a turbo. This might be the kind of thing that will make me keep the TL instead of getting the new G Coupe when it comes out. Who knows, that might have a turbo as well.
