Hi.
Got a 06 tl s/c and got pro cats..
Im getting a custom j-pipe this week, but I was thinking of removing the 3rd pro cat and replacing it. I was going to put the magnaflow resonator 14" the one we use for stage 2 exhaust mod.
I was wondering which one would flow better and give more hp/tq ? 3rd pro cat, or magnaflow resonator?...
I dont want it to sound like a dum civic on crack so thats why I will keep the 3rd pro cat, or put a magnaflow resonator in just to keep the civic rasp down.
any input?

hands down go with the 3rd procat... if you kept the stock exhaust from the cat back it won't ever sound like a civic, now if you've done stage 2 or stage 3 on the already existing exhaust, with the custom j-pipe it won't sound raspy either

I got a comptech s/c, pro cats, comptech catback.
I will add a custom j-pipe soon.
I know from ussi car the j-pipe has no 3rd cat and sounds raspy a bit.
I want to remove that rasp so either leave the pro cat 3rd cat, or
remove the 3rd pro cat and replace with a resonator.
I want to know which would flow better..

i am pretty sure a resonator will flow better then the procat. A resonator is just straight thru.

Is your custom J-pipe going to be equal length? What size pipe are you going with?

not equal.. I was talking to my muffler shop who works on imports/american cars and he said " is your car a real race car " ? " does your car have a manifold or headers "??
Anyways I know he knows his stuff.
Look-- its going to be about the same as yours...2.5"
I have my old magnaflow resonator from the stage 2 of upgrading the sound. I think Im going to just put that in.

The cat will be a slightly more restrictive. I don't have the 3rd cat and after i put in the jpipe i got a lot of rasp so i put a resonator and midmuffler back in.

USSI: So was the gain from the J-pipe noticable? Did you notice any low end torque changes? Which cat back do you have?

ussi, how is it now with the resontor in? I assume you put the mid muffer of comptech back in.
Just had my custom 2.5 j pipe made.. All I got to say is oh my... I might have a small exhaust leak since I forgot to buy a gasket for the rear cat section. We just sealed it up at the muffler shop the best we could do till I get the gasket.
Its fast and more of a monster now.. People hear my beast and leave me alone.
ussi- if your free tuesday around 530-6pm let me know I will have the car tuned...

nice..so now you have 2.5" J-pipe with resonator and no 3rd cat? Got any pictures? What's the pipe size of the runner?

Does anyone know the outlet pipe size of the E-shift precat? (The one that attaches to the block).

Mike: with the resonator the rasp has gone down...i also need to get some gaskets for a better seal. your car will be tuned by 6pm tomorrow?

I just got a custom 2.5 j-pipe with pro cats. I did not remove the 3rd cat and replace it with a resonator yet.
ussi- Just got some new dealer gaskets for now... We change the time so tuning starts at 4pm. If you free let me know...

I have it on my car right now along with a full 3" exhaust. Top end is great but low end torque suffered a bit. That's why i am on a quest to make one with better low end torque for daily driving.
