So on my previous VWs, performance software for the ECU was very easy to come by. You stopped by a shop, they hooked their laptop up to the DLC, and 15 minutes later you drove away with a tuned ECU.
From the research I've done thus far, I have noticed it is not so easy with Hondas/Acuras. There is very little info out there about what I want to do.
I just bought a 2005 TL Navigation 5-spd auto, only has 37k miles, came from VA. My only complaint about the car is that the gas mileage is not that great. I am NOT looking at putting any aftermarket parts on the car. No intake, no exhaust, etc. However, with my older VWs there were a lot of companies that made performance software that was intended for stock setups and it helped with driveability and improved gas mileage. Is there such a thing for this Acura I just bought?

'you could spend $1300 on a stand alone and make less gains than you would have spending $300-650 on a FI vw/audi motor'...that's what sucks.
i wish i could afford that MS3 stuff or the mods to put it to use, but coming from a shared platform (audi), this car kinda sucks in terms of initial gains:$$$ ratio.
first mod on my audi was $325 shipped and a trade of a bare ecu, and got 70 hp and even more torque.
so the tl is sorta 'grrr'

Bang for the buck isn't there on these cars OP. You could spend thousands on some bolt-ons and ring out a few hp's, but nothing crazy like you can on the turbo engines. In that regard I miss my Subaru, but I also don't live in fear of my turbo blowing with my TL. Give and take.

another reason why the tl is sorta 'grrr'...nobody makes parts for us.

Yup, this car sucks for gas mileage. I usually see around 16mpg around town, but get it out on the highway... LA to Vegas, 100mph and you'll get around 30mpg depending on how many people you need to pass.

It's been said over and over that this is not a car produced to attract the same people driving WRX's or EVO's. It's from the luxury division of Honda and it targeted for old people like me.
Even though a handful of people are producing aftermarket parts, the market still doesn't and probably never will support the base that these other pocket rockets are.
If you wanted 'affordable' upgrades, you bought the wrong car.

my guess is that your complaining about the gas. mine dont eat up gas and it is a S type. only because i relearn the computer. i feel sorry for tl owners that tamper with the driveby wire throttlebody. its electronic and it will F up your fuel.

I did some research and could not find any difintive reviews on if sprint booster was good or bad..
however they had a great turn out at SEMA before and got good reviews from tuner magazines.. but again was it for sales or real stuff?
I lean towards bad since it is tricking the system using basically a black box of circuits.. but that just could be my fear
then again I am afraid of the ocean and still jump in

like many car makes, everything is electronic throttle. i have learn that even though the idle doesn't fluctuate (erractic) , it affects the way the gas pedal respond to the driveby wire throttle system. if gas pedal is depress 25% it will tell the ecu to go 34% instead. get it? now this is when your ecu have to relearn and i know this secret
