Question:

I was running low on gas the other night (Shell) with nothing but Mobil/Marathon in sight (can't remember which one I used). Anyway, at the time, I had a CEL. Filled up with Mobil/Marathon and started driving again on the highway. The CEL went away. Yesterday I refilled with Shell again and my CEL popped back up.

Can anyone explain this?

 

Gas cap? are you using the same Shell station?

 

I think HFC are better IMO. Best as far as low to top end, depending on your setup.

It could have been the gas cap or crappy gas. I would drive that one out and try another station.

 

yea ive been getting gas cap bitch message myself....only if i throw in 20 bucks or so....if i fill, the car says thanks and the message goes right away

 

I filled half the tank up with the non-Shell gas. I always tighten my gas cap properly (at least I think I do). I topped up with Shell.

Anyway, I'm switching out the deletes for some type-s precats. I would like to try HF precats but I'm afraid they'll burn out (like the EShift Procats which were metal substrate too).

 

Don't blame you with the type-s cats. I found some metal shavings when I switched out my 3 cat. Not throwing any cel's; so far so good.

Sorry the precats didn't work out for you. At least you know it is in high demand as far as resale.

Yeah well, I def felt the power up top but I'm more of a city driver so my low end is important to me. Plus, I want a quieter ride

I'll be switching out the deletes and my HF 3rd cat. Will throw in the type-s precats and the RV6 non-res race pipe.

i ll tell you one thing when im running on empty some times i ll get a cel but only when im 1/4 tank or so. but when i fill up it goes away

 

^ Comptech is too soft... but CT + deletes is a little too much for me. I'm just not a fan of the low RPM drone... WOT is music.

You giving up on the deletes already?? I thought you loved em? Im sure you will be able to sell them pretty quick tho. Maybe delete the mid-muffler on the comptech for a lil more throatier sound?

^ Haha yeah well, it was almost freezing when I recorded that video. I'll record another one before I take them out since its warmer here and the HFC lessens the rasp.

BTW, theres no rasp at WOT... just when theres no load on the engine.

 

dude just have richie make the darn hfc using mangaflow spuncats since they are covered under a lifetime warranty they'll survive and if they dont its easy to get replacements

 

Sorry but I don't want to jack this thread but since we are talking about Pre-cat deletes here has anyone have one running with the Greddy??

If so, was it louder than before and was there any rasp at all??

Yes it will definitely be louder. As for rasp, it will be raspy unless you install some type of aftermarket resonator (ie. Aero AR25)

 

What if I keep the OEM 3rd cat in there? The HP gains are very tempting for the price but not a big fan if my Greddy gets even louder.

 

^ Buy a RV6 high flow cat and weld in a resonator or two.
