Performance chips??

I want a performance chip for my 06 Acura TL Base. BMW has a chip that give it a 100HP gain I know I am not going to get that but I want at least 30HP gain.

PS. I have cold air and I am not looking for sprins rims or mufflers...

Hey temper,

Welcome to the forums! Unfortunately, there is no such chip available for our TL's.

there are no chips or ECU re-flashes for our cars, unless you're super charged. Only way is a custom tune and thats only worth it after extensive mods.

Chip for BMW335I

S2 Package - 335i (For cars equipped with the factory oil cooler) Dinan S2-335i

The Dinan S2-335 builds upon the S1 package by increasing output to 398 hp @ 5700 rpm along with 429 lb-ft torque @ 4300 rpm*. This further increase in power is generated through the addition of a highly efficient intercooler that is nearly twice the size of the stock unit, featuring ducting designed to optimize air flow. The larger intercooler allows for a bigger boost in turbo boost pressure using Stage 3 Engine Software, increasing power as well as reducing the time necessary for the car to cool down from the effects of heat soaking, making full power available under varying driving conditions. The improved thermal efficiency also reduces the effects of increased boost pressure on the stock turbochargers for greater reliability. In addition to increased horsepower and torque, the S2 also features the Stage 3 Suspension System which adds front Camber Plates to the Stage 2 spring, shock and antiroll bar package. More aggressive drivers will enjoy the car's more neutral balance, with the camber plates further reducing understeer for turn in that is razor sharp. The S2 offers stunning acceleration and confidence inspiring handling that is sure to exceed the most aggressive driving enthusiast's expectations. Naturally the Dinan lightweight wheel and tire package is recommended in order to take full advantage of the S2-335's suspension upgrades as well as improve the cars' ability to put the formidable power down to the road. The lack of a limited slip differential becomes much less of an issue with the added traction provided by the suspension system and wide, sticky tires. As you would expect, the Dinan high capacity oil cooler is included, ensuring that operating temperatures are kept in check even with the added heat created by the increased boost pressure. The Dinan oil cooler ensures years of reliable performance and is an absolute must for those participating in track events.

The company covers the fartory warrenty for four years after installed.

Chipped turbo 3 series are no joke. Its a pretty expensive mod, but you get an ass load of power out of it. My buddy had a chipped 335 and the car would not stay in a straight line.

With turbo cars adding a chip is pretty easy as there are more parameters to adjust compared to a NA car. BMW also has a solid following of after market parts companies.

Our cars...3.2 NA making 258 HP. BMW 3.0 liter turbo'd makes some where over 300....We're not doing all that bad...

I understand that BMW's new 3 liter twin turbo set up has a lot of potential, but the claimed additional 100whp from the s2 package also requires a larger intercooler, larger oil cooler, and dinan's exhaust. The dinan s2 package also costs around 2g's and the exhaust is an additional $1800. I'm not sure how much the vishnu and other reflashes cost, but 100whp for nearly 4 grand isn't all that great. Don't get me wrong though because it's not bad. It's still a better deal than anything i've found for the TL so far, but that's the potential you get from a car that comes with two turbos from the factory.

btw, i'm trying to make a point on a car that i don't really know much about so if i'm wrong please feel free to put me in my place, haha.

Seriously, man why do you gotta get my hopes up. I was like.. "Doritos? Let's Google that chip... oh.. that kind of chip"

No, I'm just kidding, but damn I envy BMW's more now. Do they have similar chips for the m3 models?

That's the beauty of turbo cars. Just from upping the boost on mine (which is mostly what the chip for the 335 does) I went from a 13.9 to a 12.7. Cost- $20.

The oil cooler is a supporting mod. It's not necessary if you drive like a sane person. Even the stock intercooler could be used if you like to do point and shoot style driving. It's not so much a restriciton and is fine for quick bursts but would heasoak quickly if used for any length of time.

yes there is:
Cold Air Intake
Exhaust work (cats, jpipe, cat-backs, mufflers, etc)
Motor work (port and polish, etc)
UR pulley
Comptech S/C

I think the most powerful TL here is at 350WHP or very close to it.

Those mods won't have any drastic negativ effect on your gas mileage. The only thing that would affect it is a heavy right foot.

Many, many more if you care to look around.

And if *that* doesn't convince you, consider this:

Your link is selling 50 WHP for $69. Guys here spend $4500 on Super Chargers to get 50 WHP - they can't all be that dumb.

AND

Your link is selling this miracle chip for the "1995 - 2008" TL's. Even though there have been *multiple* engine sizes and ECU maps. How does one little chip cover so much ground? They don't even pretend to make a chip for each generation and Type-S configuration - just a "one size fits all" placebo.

Road and Track or Automobile magazine actually installed and dyno'd a company selling an ECU mod for the 335i. It was around $1200 and replaced the entire ECU. No shit 100 hp/tq. Very impressive but I think a big margin of that rests on the fact that the 335i is underated on power from the factory and slightly detuned. Still like the M3 better.

True. i saw a video where their was a s2 335 vs a m3 (e92). An the 335 kept up pretty well.Well at least thats what it looks like. The m3 more of a track car, buh then again if the mdivision turbo the m3 OH BOY. The e46 m3 with turbos an some other mods (pretty expensive) is pushing a bit over 1000hp

That small displacement V8 in the M3 is very F1 in design and I think it has serious potential. The secrets lie within the 8300 redline.

these chips do nothing for the TL since it's tuning from the factory is superb, and as well this topic has been discussed many times before here with the same conclusion, it doesn't work.
