Add me to the list of broken AEM CAI list...

Installed my CAI last Sept. and noticed I was burning through my gas pretty fast. Had a good feeling that it was broken and it was. I have the P2R tb installed as well. V2 here I come!

You can claim warranty if you show proof of purchase and it is less than 1 year old. I am waiting for mines to arrive. They said it was shipped from last week wednesday.

Why do people go with AEM over Fujita? Seems like Fujita has way less problems.

well aem offers a tid bit more of torque... but at a more expensive price and less durable design

curious... did you run the p2r spacer? if not you would not be the only one with this problem

ps. aem v2 has the same bracket location as fujita/injen

So you're saying different chunks of metal in the same shape produce more HP? I'll accept when I see DYNO.

let me get this straight if you have a AEM CAI which i do, bought it three months ago. And the weld breaks off you and you have proper purchase documentation, you will recieve a AEM V@ system to replace it?

^^ Nope. They'll give you a new tube for your system.

Or, depending on where they are in R&D process, they may give you an "updated" tube for your system.

not for nothing but their welds just blow....AEM should just make the welds "healthier"...a friend of mine welded mine up when it snapped and put steroid welds on it....same for tekno's i had his done a couple of weeks ago and its ridiculous.

lol the aem is better in noise production therefore u wanna smash ur gas and break things while vtec gets louder. I noticed the side motor mount likes to blow when the aem bracket snaps.

Actually if you look at the pic the weld held just fine its the chuck of aluminum it ripped out of the intake tube that is a problem.

yea its a shit weld....its holding the bracket to the surrounding metal and when they welded it they probably did it at the wrong temp.... I believe aluminum is welded according to its heat tolerance.... and as its welded at aem the weld holds fine but weakens the metal around it. obviously letting the metal surrounding the weld flex in a bad way.....when i get it rewelded at my friends shop the guys actually add more weld but do so with a lower temperature and let it air cool so that it doesnt affect the metal around the weld too much and its a really heavy weld... to really hold that sucker in place. id rather replace a million rubber mounts than have to fix my intake....AEM should pick up on this and correct the issue...but i dont think they care much...lol

^ I wouldn't say they don't care since they are working on revised pipe. At least one member on here, jguerra23, has this prototype tube. Couldn't tell you if it will hold up better or not but at least they are doing something about it.

yea to some degree....i told them this was an issue 6 years ago when it broke on my type s... and on my 99 tl.... and this was before they gave straight pipes to the fliter....they used sectionals that u connected with silicon couplers. they refused to cover it under warranty stating that it was a "customers incorrect installation practice" shows how much they care...they acted like a bunch of know it alls and now its biting them in the ass. 6years later it becomes a greater issue and finally they decide on "hey lets do something about it"

i mean dude....u really have to be a dead head to not be able to install one of these pieces of junk.....or at least picture how it gets installed and go from there.....UNLESS you are not mechanically inclined, which i understand completely....the install is pretty straight forward... its not like u need to be a mechanic with 40 yrs experience under ur belt.....and thats what they pulled with me when i called them up to get it fixed, so many years ago.

I hear you. I would be just as frustrated had I gone through the multiple problems you've had. Completely understandable.

Don't take this the wrong way, but after having problems on your type-s and your 99tl, why did you get another AEM? I mean, if I would have had it fail on two other cars and also had to deal with them giving me a hard time about it, no chance I buy that product again.

And, off topic, but do you have pictures posted of your leather/suede interior? That would be cool to see.

lol this is acurazine dude we are here to laugh at eachother and learn a thing or 3 along the way... i try to take evrything in stride.....lol
the reason i stuck to AEM is because i knew they made a good product...regardless of their failures...i still felt it was a product that worked.... plus i heard other intakes and they didnt make any noise compared to the AEM..... and my 05 tl intake snapped as well.....but this time around i had/have a guy who has insane knowledge of metals and welding....and who better to bring it to, u know? I figured "shit if it breaks....i can fix it...if it breaks again y fix it....ill throw it out fix it n sell it or make my own". Igor - teknoking.... I got his welded too....i dont know what he expects but ill tell u....his intake i think was welded much better than mine and i dont think it'll ever break again lol.

yes thats leather and suede i have to fix a few mistakes but by the summer everything should be completed and ill have some very nice clean pics for people to see.

Trip how was the Customer Service when you went through their warranty department? Mine has also broke and ripped the tube at the bolt. I have to run to the shop I bought it at 3 years ago and get a receipt so I can file a claim.

How long does it take to get a replacement?

is this proven, that aem has more torque than fujita/injen? im willing to bet they have the same output. Im torn right now between getting the aem and fujita, leaning to the fujita seeing as its 50 bucks cheaper....

Ok, so AEM has been really good thru the Warranty process. Only snag is that they currently don't have my Coated Silver tube for my warranty replacement. They have only given me the option of the Polished tube, and I'm kinda iffy on it just on looks......I don't really wanna wait if its gonna take a long time for them to get new stock.

Do you think if I asked for a V2 they would use that in lue?
