One of my favorite mod's.....

I LOVE the short shifter mod! It just make the TL seem so much tighter! I did a search and didn't find anyone just stating the FACT that this is a GREAT mod!!! Try it you'll like it!

Does it stress the bushings or anything when installed?

I never understood how it works really, its just an add on to the OEM shifter correct? its not a replacement?

Any pictures on these? I thought the TLs were pretty short to begin with.

I was wondering about the stress as well. I was all set to go and do the mod but then I read somewhere (maybe here??) that it might wear things out earlier. I plan on having my car for as long as possible so want to know as much about this one as possible

No stress... essentially the short shifter is a piece of metal that attaches to the underside of the shift lever. What happens is by making the lower half of the shifter (below the swing point) longer, it makes the throw distance needed above the swing point to be reduced. It is easy and could not possibly hurt your car. It is just a bushing that connects to the linkage....

Look at this thread... it is my DIY Short Shifter install guide with pics... It will help you to understand how it works and how to do it if you should so decide...

Yes, the TL is a short throw! But now it's like using a joy stick! It seems to tighten up the shifter. Also its the same each shift! No slop at all...... It just feels like a race car ______(fill in the blanks with your fav. type) It is just "THE BEST"!!!!
