So I live in Utah, and one thing I'm slightly worried about is the weather, salt and climate destroying the exhaust. Anyone know how well these hold up to the elements? Like will it start rusting? Is it not the best quality

It's supposed to be stainless steel. Plus if im not mistaken theres some sort of rust protectant that can be sprayed on to the system to prevent rust.

Not to be that guy but this stainless steel is china grade, wouldn't even be considered stainless steel in America.

As per the welds, the exhaust does look pretty but from someone who welds, the stongest isn't always the prettiest.

From my past research, the four main downfalls are as follows.

1- the rear clamps (always use slipfit). slip fit is more money to make but it allows for adjusting if needed, little easier install and a tighter seal for sure.

2-stainless. This is NOT stainless steel, its china grade and they mix other materials in the steel to save money, which inturn they can "sell" as stainless because it was made in china and they consider that stainless..This means the exhaust system will rust over time from salt, salt air, etc.

3- they're claim for "lifetime". They put a word in front of lifetime that means a lot ...."limited"...this means they will and have in the past void all warranties at all costs.

4- That y merge. It is not liniar at all and how its welded like that right in the middle of it i've seen these break from pressure/body roll etc. Big on tuesdos for breaking.

Now, with that being said $300 for this is nice, if it jumps up to 600+ because of demand like they all do, its a waste.

With selling hundreds of these because they're cheap you will never find those bad reviews because they just get jumped out of the way and all of the reviews (no offense to anyone) are when just installing / had for a few months etc.

Ive personally removed some of these exhausts after 3 years (tsuedo) and the thing was rusted to shit, welds were cracked etc.

It also comes down to where you live, if you live in a salted road because it snows a lot, this may not last long..

Like ebay brakes, you gotta think. If this exhaust is $300 shipped, fees and shipping are around $100 alone. Shipping this from china is atleast $50 per since its expensive, ebay fees 10%..this means they can make this exhaust for $100 and still profit..which doesn't make sense since stainless piping alone is more then that, if not just about that..

So not to be that guy again and its just facts. Im not arguing which one is better, or "they suck because they're cheap". We all know you get what you pay for, but there are always some facts behind what you pay for and I though you guys should know.

I've had the ins exhaust on my v6 6speed accord for about 6 months and it's the best sounding exhaust I've had. I replaced a magnaflow exhaust. This sounds better with hardly any drone. Get compliments all the time.

can't it be painted black with high temp paint to prevent that?

Also on the OBX listing it says T304 stainless which is pretty good at resisting corrosion if it is in fact T304.

Best setup?

I have a 2005 acura tl base m/t. I have been shopping around for a replacement exhaust system that makes a better sound(deeper, and more pronounced). Many of the systems I have looked at have been out of my price range for now. From reading the thread it seems like this is a pretty solid system for the money.( you get what you pay for ). Before I order mine I want to know if the quad will work with the base rear bumper, some people said that it caused them issues and would anyone recommend putting a j pipe with it and if so what brand? I have a cold air intake on order now and will have that installed before I order the system. Im still new to this car and welcome any advise, thanks in advance.

This exhaust is intended to fit on type s bumper or type s a spec rear lip. If you want it to fit on your base rear bumper you will need to cut and make it fit.

In regards to the J Pipe you can get one but its not requiered. I would go with the Endless RPM J Pipe test pipe combo. RV6 and ATLP both have some nice pieces also but at a higher cost.

Hey ahbennett i had my OBX catback installed yesterday and did a before and after video for comparison. All that being said, i am also gonna get a j-pipe but to be put on later. let me know what you think, also take into account that this isnt the quad, just single outlets. You can actually do a comparison with factory, single and quad.
is a quad set on a type-s.

I installed mine about a week ago and it sounds amazing, the only thing now is to see how well the "stainless steel" holds up. I got mine through amazon for $424 which included the shipping. I went through amazon because of a long ordeal I had with ebay about not paying for the one i bookmarked (makes no sense). I definitely noticed a difference with it paired with a cold air intake. Bottom line, if you are looking for a better sounding system that will not break the bank this is the system for you. In addition to that if anyone is in need of a stock intake or exhaust let me know if you can use it there is no cost. The exhaust does have a pretty good amount of rust on it especially around the connector to the cat. But it worked without a problem while on the car for 11 years.

^ I would post up your stock intake and exhaust in the "Free Cycle thread" on the main page.

How much louder are the OBX quads compared to a stage 3 exhaust?
