@KN_TL

I'm trying to make arrangements to drop the new engine and tranny in this weekend. If all goes well, I'll be able to get my ATLP quads on this weekend too. I'll have to snap some pics and send them your way if that's cool with you.

I put the final coats of clear on the valve covers over the weekend and got them bolted up today. I also had a chance to get my ID1000 injectors in and the fuel rails bolted up.

What a relief it'll be to have the ol' girl back on all 4's. She's been up on jackstands since... October, I think. It's been nice having plenty of time though. It's given me a chance to fabricate brackets, wire up gauges and modules, get the battery relocated, etc.

@TLDream

Definitely! PM me your email address and I'll get them sent your way as well. Keep me posted on when you'll be driving through. If you're coming up I35, you'll go right past my place on your way up. I'll take you for a spin if everything is up and running by then.

With 3,042 lb prelude = 12.8.
TL 3,480 lb would probably do a 13.2-13.5 on slicks.

Now put a 130lb male drive it and it may do good on full weight interior, with 265-270 whp... what has other TL members got in their times/trap?

To have 300whp, did anyone try doing a 3.2 frank with 3.5L bottom? The torque with that block could be well close to hp numbers. But that's equivalent to a SC build price range.

True, but also very close to S/C numbers. All the 3.2 really needs is larger cams and a tune to break the 300whp mark. It shouldn't be that difficult, but cams aren't cheap, nor readily available.

I used to have a K-series, and putting in a JDM 5.06 FD in the USDM K20z3, I was able to gain 2-3 MPH in the trap speed. If we have a shop (J&R) develope one, we could well see faster trap time. But.. maybe only 10 people will ever buy a FD.

Question to Pass427, i see that 6MT owners experienced this stiffness at high RPM, what would be the cause of this? I've heard of pressure plate being hot and causing the clutch pedal to build pressure? Just wondered if you of the man of the TL guru experienced this on yours.

With twin disc you'll ask the same question vato asked when he received his car "are you sure theres a twin disc in here " I can feel a bit more effort but not enough to convince me that a twin disc is in here until he let the clutch out his words was holy shit ,think its best way I can descrobe twin disc as its not noisy one bit and daily friendly ...unheard of with a twin disc setup and holding torque capacity 750 lb tq ...

can't you swap the internals to a carbon/carbon setup? just curious how ridiculously expensive that would be?

Also, the spines are matched up but the pucks are not. This is as closely matched as i could get them following the splines. This isn't normal right?

I wouldn't worry about it being different just a different design.

Concerning the splines, it really doesn't matter. The shaft rotates anyway so it's orientation to the disc material is irreverent. It's unlikely any of us will push this to it's max holding capacity anyway, something else is going to break first.

thats another reason, more harsh engagement vs cerametallic 6 puck

I just checked my discs, the pucks don't line up on mine either.

Not sure about the engagement difference between what is listed and what you got. Give P2R a call, they should be able to answer your question (if that's where it came from)

EDIT:

Are those Tilton discs? What's the P/N on the box?

these came from j and r. thats another thing im worried about, can't find those numbers on the discs online anywhere but it is buttoned with the tilton engineering TE. the box they came with is tilton with a patch of cardboard missing possibly where the p/n could have been. do you have cerametallic or sintered?

The self adjusting mechanism is in the PP assembly so when you go to the new clutch, you'll be doing manual adjustments with the pedal assembly as the discs wear.

Gears are ok but I am not beating on them at the track or anything.

As a matter of fact, I am still running the stock clutch even though I've had the twin disc on the shelf for a while. I can't seem to burn it down, although I am not driving it like I stole it either. Since I don't do hard launches off the line that often, my driveline has been fine.

With my car running better than ever, that may change.

I've got everything you listed except for the clutch installed at the moment.

@PearlUA7

What did you end up doing about the discs?

I decided to start working on getting the transmission out. Heading down to NJ so I want to break it in before I go.

im gonna stick with em, kinda at a stand still now though. my 2nd has a chipped tooth and now im goin thru warranty issues... was hoping to warranty the tranny then do the clutch once i got the car back. you think a $200 letter from the lawyer will do? dealership denied it for being "highly modified" and or "abuse", also denied from customer relations. stealerships price, $6700!

Wow, that sucks.

I've been using the GMSMFM and after 20k miles or so, the amount of syncro dust is a lot less than what I had after only 5k on the stock fluid.

I've been working on my car for the past couple days. Just about ready to drop the sub-frame.
