Why more whp for the m/t? More "efficient"?

^lighter, less drivetrain loss and better gearing.

Cliffnotes: GET A 6MT TL-S LOL!

^^^ x3....

in retrospect i feel the numbers are fine because Andy and Juam who are completely bolted on Type S 6MT are making 298/2xx (260-ish or 270-ish torque, i cant remember well)....

either way, i would have been close to those numbers if I would have started out with a type S

So with my base AT stock whp is about 210, with rv6 v3 PCD + Jpipe it will put me at about 230 if I'm lucky.

makes me not even want to do performance mods lol.

6MT Type-S same 2 bolt ons would net near 260-270whp
AT Base - 225-230.

I'm kicking myself in the ass for not getting a 6spd Type-S right about now..

I wouldn't even mind having a 6spd base, but they weren't available for 07-08

Having a 6spd base with the same 2 bolt ons (PCD + J-Pipe) would still net about the same WHP as a Type-S 5AT with the same 2 bolt ons.

I'm jealous

^^^ well think of it this way, how does the Type S make more power than the base ?

HFC's compared to Regular Cats
Better flowing exhaust
more displacement

so a base compared to as type s with 2 mods (PCD's and Jpipe) will be a ton of difference....but when you go a fully bolted on 5AT Type S v/s fully bolted on Base 5AT, the hp difference wont be that much....

but yeah wish i had a 6sp as well....

To me, the biggest difference in my fully bloted TLS-6MT is the torque curve. I plotted torque (and HP) curves in Excel against my 3.2 5AT with only Catback/Intake, then again with Full Boltons, and again with Fully Bolt ons + Cams @ 320whp, and the starting torque on the TL-S 6MT is WAYYYY MORE than proportional to the torque you would expect simply from a larger displacement/lighter drivetrain. What I attribute this to is the final gear ratio....

For example, @ 3000rpm my 3.2 5AT with catback and intake made 136ft/lbs (im going off of memory here, excel sheet is at home). Then, fully bolted, it made 156 ft/lbs @3000, then with a cam it made 176ft/lbs @3000. Again, this isnt peak torque I'm talking about..but look at the difference..........The TL-S 6MT Fully Bolted @ 3000rpm made 250ft/lbs torque (WITH NO CAMSHAFT!)

Freakin nuts!

It explains why I could never run under a 14 flat on the 1/4 mile with 320whp with the 5AT but could achieve 103mph trap speeds.

^^^ dude if you dont mind either posting the excel sheet or posting the numbers....136 doesnt seem right....

JnR dyno of a base 6MT, the torque was 211....so 5AT TQ being 136 is waayyyyy tooo low....the same 6MT made 231 TQ with PCD's and Jpipe...it already had Intake and Greddy Exhaust....we all know how much Intake and Greddy exhaust make

so your saying your fully bolted on 5AT with cams made less TQ than a base 6MT with greddy and intake ???

again i know you said your going off your memory, but dude we need that excel LOL....

^^ Agreed about 136 being very low, especially when peak was what, 270? Your memory sucks bro. LOL only teasing. If you could post that Excel sheet, that'd be awesome.

Btw, what are the other 2 lines on your most recent TL-s 6MT dyno?

i went thro the graphs again and seems like the Base 6MT with and without ECU is sitting at ~200 (give or take 4-6 TQ) at 3K rpm, so yeah the 136 still seems very very low....very you reading TQ @ 3K rpm or HP at 3K rpm ?

The reason the Torque might be off on the 5AT dyno is because the dyno has a hard time syncing to give an accurate reading.

I know this happened to me when I did dyno my Base 5AT on a dynojet.
My friend who dyno'd his 6MT had no such problems of course.

It seems 5AT's are inherently at a disadvantage when it comes to reliable dynoing.
This could also be dependant on the shop but from what I've read its generally more difficult to get accurate AT dyno's.
