Mid muffler pipe rusting?

I am looking to do the mid muffler delete. The problem is, I live in Canada, where alot of road salt and sand is used. Im worried that if I remove the mid muffler and the new pipe is put into place and it will rust, and then what? This is what my mechanic said. Anyone have this problem?

If I want the G35 Exhaust note, I should A) Remove the resonator, or B) Remove the mid muffler?

what are the other CONS of this? I have searched and im still in between on this!

exactly I was going to say that. Use stainless steel. Remove just the mid muffler becuase all that does it muffle the sound more. Then you can replace the resonator with another one, but if anything never get rid of that.

You would use a 2.25" piece of pipe. You can get SS pipe from magnaflow or dynomax by way of summit racing or jegs. Go onto Youtube and find video's of a stage 3 exhaust and go from there. it never sounds the same as in person so that leaves you with finding someone who has a stage 3 that's near you.

I have an appointment booked for tuesdat nov 10th for my mid muffler removal. I am so worried for the following reasons. Can some1 please reassure me the following?

If im looking for added exhaust noise will i be happy with this?

Will this cause problems when it comes time to emission testing?

Does it just continue to get louder and louder over time?

Whar r the other cons to this mod?

Can you hear it in car?

I reeeaaalllyyy need these questions answered asap!

1. If you're looking for G35 sound with just this mod, then no you won't be happy. If you'd be satisfied with getting closer to a G35 sound, then you'll be happy.
2. It won't cause problems with smog/emissions testing because you're only removing the mid-muffler, not a catalytic converter.
3. It shouldn't get louder over time.
4. Cons? You'll have to find a way to get rid of the muffler after the mod.
5. Lastly, no, you can't really hear it in the car.

Hope it goes well, I'm happy with mine. Sound's a bit more "aggressive" than before, but still refined.

I would just say its worth it, nothing to lose except money. IF your going to pay anything more then 50 dollars then it is not worth the money.

this is so frustrating...if the mid muffler delete barley changes the sound, why do people do it lol?

does it increase torque? horsepower?

I did the mod because it changed the exhaust note enough for me without spending $1k or more for an aftermarket exhaust. Better sound for $60.

If you want a dramatic change, then you'll have to shell out more $ for a full cat back, then spend extra on a big res for the drone.

Not much more I can tell ya.

Sorry to hear that man.

I don't mean to add insult to injury, but maybe deleting the 3rd cat and removing the resonator might be an idea.

I might do stage 3, I actually take back what I said about the stage 1 mid muffler removal. It's actually quiet loud outside of the car, it sounds good, I was just disapointed that I can't hear it.

I just got it done today, and I have now developed a NOISE from the front right passenger side when I tough the gas just a little bit, like 1000RPMS. It sounds like a creaking crackling noise. It's not coming from the mid muffler..but it sounds bad. I had the guy look at it who did the mid muffler removal, he said its coming from under the hood (could be a pulley etc...) or around the passanger side from rim...what could this be?

spray some high temp paint on there. trust me on this stage 3 is the way to go. its not to loud and no drone at all. when you drive on the freeway you cant even hear the exhaust only when you takeoff at a light. or if you want a louder note you can change your mufflers. today i just install two magnaflow muffler and they sound awesome. almost like the stage3 but louder. i love it.
