Mid muffler delete, prevent rust?

I did a mid muffler delete last week, and while I love the sound, I'm worried about how it will hold up to the upstate new york winters.

What do you guys suggest would be the best way to prevent rust? The straight pipe is aluminized steel, but it looks like the mechanic covered the welds with some putty. Is the stock exhaust stainless steel or galvanized steel? I couldn't find a concrete answer.

Should hold up fine. It is going to rust eventually, but it shouldnt fully deteriorate in 1 winter. Not sure what the puddy is , maybe the mechanic sucked at welding.

I don't think you'll have a problem with it.

I don't see it being a problem but if you are that concerned about it throw some high heat spray paint on the pipe and welds.

That is weird how he put some sort of putty over the ends where the welds are. Like someone said above either they are the sloppiest welds ever done, or this guy does something that I have never seen any other shop do.
At any rate, that section will corrode a lot faster than the rest of the exhaust, but its not something that is gonna happen over night so I wouldnt worry about it. Like others have said maybe put a few coats of some sort of spray on there and that should help keep the elements off that pipe.

I just had the Stage 1 mid delete done today. The shop didn't use stainless pipe, so I'll let you know how it holds up I guess lol.

I'd go back to the "shop" where you had that done and ask wtf is the point of the putty all over it. If you cant weld two simple joints on a straight pipe what are you doing working at an exhaust shop? Thats pathetic and I would demand it be repaired or replaced, even though no one will ever really see it I couldn't accept that mess anywhere on my car.
