Mid muffler delete, J-pipe = stage 1 ?

I read about the stage 1,2,3,4 mods to the TL exhaust. I, like many others, want more sound with my TL. I do not want rasp, drone, or excessive noise in the cabin. I want more of an agressive exhaust tone to match my TL type S 6 speed M/T.
I am considering doing the mid muffler delete, and /or adding the rv6 j pipe. The key thing is I want to keep my Type S cat back exhaust. I do not want new mufflers, or a new cat back. I love the type S quad exhaust as it is.
Can I do anything for the exhaust note with the RV6 j pipe, High flow cats, or a mid muffler delete to affect the exhaust note?
Or, will it be so minimal by leaving the cat back, that it is not worth doing?
I realize the gains are minimal, but I would like a bit more agressive sound while driving with a manual trans.
Thanks.

If you went hfpc jpipe and mid muf delete you'd be happy. Little to no rasp loud enough to make happy and enough power to make you happy.

^I had the same setup you are considering.

I removed the mid muffler ($20), and added pre cat deletes, RV6 j-pipe, resonated 3rd cat, and left the factory catback in place. I personlly liked the sound. It was only noticeable outside the car when idling, or when stepping on the gas while driving (quiet until you want it to be heard).

Most people compare the sound to the 350z or g35 coupe.

I have the XLR8 J-pipe V2 (which removes the 3rd cat) and mid-muffler removed, rest is OEM.My car is still pretty quiet. I can hear the car at idle now when standing behind it but on start up it is still a lot quieter than a G35/350Z is when they start. Very quiet when cruising around. More tone when I get on it, zero rasp, maybe a touch hollow sound in the midrange, hear the VTEC crossover better. Not sure if I'll do anything else, kind of fits in with the debadged, blacked out mufflers sleeper image.

Best thing though, is the gains from the j-pipe. Most noticeable improvement from any mod I've done on an OBD car.

I am going HFC's (high flow) and V3 Jpipe just like you, just HFC for more mellow, I am holding off on mid muff delete to see the sound before i do that.

Is this on an Accord or a TL?? I don't know if the result is the same on Accord vs. TL type S...

As for stage 1,2,3... dont mention that ever again.

As for the exhaust sound, check out google and type in your year tl and mid muffler delete. You will find more than a fare share of posts about others people looking to just increasing the sound of their exhaust.

Forget that man! Go with style and keep the Type S cat back. I don't want another cat back. I have the sweet Type S catback quad tips. I also notice you are 19 years old, so I am probably your fathers age.

TL-S has a little more exhaust note but I can't imagine just the mid-muffler delete and a J-pipe will affect the sound level any more than it did on my car.

you can keep the quad tips of the stock TL-S. Just have whoever is doing the work cut them off and wels them onto the new mufflers. Thats what I did. Went with OBX resonated mufflers. ATLP J Pipe, ATLP 2-1/2" test pipe deletes the 3rd cat, 2-1/2" straight through including the Y and after the Y. No resonater and no 3rd muffler. Did the entire exhaust for less than any of those cat back systems. If you want to go in steps I would reccoment keeping the 2 monitored cats, start from the front and work your way back in steps.

How does your car sound , man?
Loud to you, or just when you get on it?
What about any drone on the highway?
Thanks.

Accidentally made my stock exhaust sound great when I traded the car in. Put everything back to stock but my 3rd cat to catback gasket was shot and missing one third of it. Car sounded great on the ride in to trade it in.

Based on the sound clips from this thread, I've decided to do HFPC/RV6 V/Stock Type S Catback. If I want more noise later, I can always add a catback.

This is what I want to do , if I ever get the $$$! Let us know when you get it how it drives, the sound, and a video if you can.

This is what that sounds like. It's a lot different from "rice rasp" as you can see here.

Mid Muffler and Resonator Delete + Magnaflow Mufflers ftw.

Sounds like a Quiet V8 aside from a small window between 2-2.5 RPMs where it has some ricey tones to it.

Remove the mid muffler first. Want more, do J pipe(easier install than HFC/PCD) or HFC. Need more, whichever is left.

First TL was base and had the rv6v3 j pipe, and mid muffler delete, and I loved it. Now I have TLS with Xlr8 j pipe, and ATLP resonated exhaust and I enjoy the loudness, but the base still sounds great to me driving down the road.
