I recorded it using my Canon S400 camera. Sorry for the large size but it was the only way we could do it. You can really hear the growl at the beginning when the car starts up!

Whoa. I got a little dizzy watching that video...

I do like the growl at startup. Thanks Lore, k6biv, & ronnie for working together to finally get us a sound clip...

I'll check out the sound file when I get home, but I don't think I'd want to upgrade my TLs exhaust unless it would sound like this.

The sound clip is my '69 Dodge Dart. 340/4bbl, dual exhaust with H-pipe, Flowmaster three chamber mufflers, and no emissions devices to speak of unless you count the PCV valve.

Regards,

It adds 7hp and cost $1090 not including installation fee.
Thanks for the video with sound clip, (MUCH APPRECIATED!)

IMO, it sounds like a civic with a coffee can, I dont like it... at all.... very disappointing (no offense for comptech exhaust owners)..... but then again, i have to hear it IN PERSON to really judge it.... I understand it won't sound like a V8, so I would say, they coulda done better. Perhaps take off the resonator

Thank you for posting the clips. I've been AWOL because I've been so busy the last few weeks, so I missed the hoopla around the posting.

You know, I like the stock exhaust sound better. It sounds much more refined to me. However, to each, his own!

I know how everyone feels about the video and the sound...you really have to hear it in person.

It does not sound like a civic with all the can noise. It is hard to describe but it does have that howling sound on the freeway that is so different.

Neorick, I would have to agree with you on that. I was one of the guys that commented "sounds ricey" on the thread. But last week, I met up with a guy who had COMPTECH EXHAUST on his car..... and after listening to the exhaust tune... it changed my mind about it and hence I've ordered mine... it sounds totally different in person... so much nicer.

I absolutely have to have this exhaust. Is it lighter? Also, do you love it? Do you have the air intake as well.

Can you feel the performance increase?

If you take off the resignators, it would sound alot more "ricey". The resignators give it that deep tone.

No they dont...I have experimented with my 04TL's exhaust in pretty much every way possible. Removing the resonator makes the tone deeper. It made the tone deeper with the stock mufflers on (still keeping one on, mind you) and after the swap (2 rear mufflers, cut out the mid muffler and swapped front resonator. You can hear my car if you want, I go to school in Davis.

I have the CT exhaust on my CL and the sound is nowhere near ricey, very low pitched. Unfortunately they do not sound good on sound clips, i've seen a few now and they all sound higher pitched like the one in this thread. Plus they sound much better when you're driving. The one draw back is the price, but they look and sound good im my opinion.

I was also present when the exhaust recording was made, and I can vouch for the "non-ricey" sound that it makes.

It's more of a deep and low rumble.
