K & N Air Filter

Has anyone put a "regular" KN air filter in their TL? Not the CAI just the air filter. Did you see any performance improvement? It's getting time for me to change mine out, wondering if anyone can give me any input.

thx

i put a k&n in my type s a few months back, dont know if i can really feel or tell a difference, but looking at the two filters side by side, you can tell which one allows more air and should provide better performance...and thats the k&n....plus its cleanable so you wont have to replace it....

^ I did too, the moment I got my 08TLS.

I don't know if there is a difference, but I like the idea of cleaning the filter myself.

doubt there is any performance gain. probably very very very very very small gain. not even noticeable.

if you remove the lower intake resonator box- the K&N works much better!!
It does several things in addittion to just filter out crud and dust to the engine, it manipulates and improves airflow to the TB.
My 01 got it as first mod to the car. The advantage of paying 50 dollars once- then in a year or 2, paying $11 for a cleaning-reoiling kit, is a heck of a deal in long term savings.

I put one in my dads truck and he called after 50,000 miles- where do I buy a new one?
No- just clean and reoil- it will outlive you~! he was very pleased
On my car- every year is long enough to run a cabin air filter, that gives an idea of how much dirt is hitting the engine air filter- and the 25$ for a standard paper engine filter vs the one time 50 dollars---it makes sense to me.

There is a slight performance gain- and mileage improvement if you keep your right foot set on: Gentle!

Before I did my CAI, I dropped in the K&N... I already had the mid muffler and resonator removed, I don't want to give testimony to any 'performance' improvement but it damn sure gave the exhaust and deeper growl.... the CAI took it a step further fyi
