I think that's the new design. I actually have this one because my previous one the mount broke off. So when I called AEM for a replacement, this was the one they sent back to me with a thicker weld for the mount bracket. I'm gonna have to check if this is how mine looks. I actually have a V2 now in my car so I'm trying to sell this version. But since you brought it up I should go check it out also before I can sell it. Sheesh, good question!

i just lookd at this video and i see that he mounts it to the right wall on the left side of the car and if i hold it that way ,so the braket can go onto the vibration mount, the intake would be turnd to the left and it wudnt connect to the engine

and also do u see at the top on the intake, it has a small extention peice to connect a house, on the instruction it says that , you have to insert a hex head plug into the threaded nipple, but i look at it and its not threaded but they did provied a screw and the DIY video says to connect a hose to it, and the pictures in the instructions show a screw in it

your best bet is to contact AEM customer service. I just received the AEM intake too and I have the same bracket location as yours and a non-threaded hole. I have not installed it yet, but let me know what they tell you. Don't give up yet.

This is the response I received from AEM:
On the old pipe it had two bungs welded . one with thread ( no longer on the new pipes ) and a second that non threaded for the air breather.
Does your pipe look like this? bracket points toward the fender. If not please send pictures and pipe part number with date stamped underneath the bar codes where the part number is on the box. You might have an older instruction on a later designed pipe

Your intake is fine dont sell it!! I just installed the same one on my 04 tl and it works perfectly. The reason it seems out of place is cuz its a newer version with new instructions. If you follow the instructions that came with the pipe it works fine.

The new pipe the bracket connects to a spot thats next to where the oem air filter is located not where the ground wires connect to the frame like some of the instructions show. Also on the new pipe there is no need to plug anything even though the instructions say to plug it.
All you need to do is use the larger hose to connect from the intake manifold to the nipple on the pipe and the smaller hose provided is for the coolant line that goes from the throttle body to the block.
As for the install being difficult, I can tell you it took me almost 2 hrs to finish. Mostly cuz you have to remove the wheel to get access to the fender well and be able to drill out the rivets holding the factory airbox/resonator together. If I had to do it again I could do it in half the time.
Now the only down side i did find is that when it was all done and came time to connect the bracket to the vibration mount i had to use a clamp to slightly bend out the bracket because the pipe was touching the frame where it goes down into the fender well.
Hope that helps!

also forgot to mention, the video you posted earlier is accurate except for there is no need to remove the front bumper but it does make it easier to work with....and the mounting point for the vibration mount shown on the video is for the old design...

Hey, i just installed the same intake on my 07 type-s, i didnt connect the mount to anything. the pipe fits with out it being clamped to anything. The only problem was removing the old filter box because there is a bolt that is hidden and hard to get to, so i had to take a saw and cut it up. You dont have to remove the tire but, it might be easier to remove the bumber. Hope this helps

as for threading the bolt into the pipe iv already said that is not necessary at all. its only there incase you dont want to run a vacuum line from your intake mani to your intake pipe which you probly dont want to do.
if you are still having problems with the install look around online for the new instructions or if need be give me your email and i will email you pics of where the mount goes...
