Is the J35a Type-S IM 2 piece?

I was looking at some stuff to do Port and Polishing along with the runners on my car and I was wondering if the type-s manfiold is a 2 piece? Meaning can I separated it into the top and bottom halves? I saw that there were a few bolts around the IM itself.

The bolts that go around the intake manifold. It looks like it joint the 2 halves together. Or is it just there to look kool? I circled it in black

pulled from a J35a8

^ yeah it look very different compared to the accord and base TL manifold. I happen to stubble over the picture at v.6.p. Can someone with a Type-S chime in and tell if the manifold has a crease or is welded?

I believe this manifold you are talking about is the 3.7TL SHAWD mani. The OP is asking about the J35a8 (07-08 Type S) manifold.

I don't know whether it's 1 or 2 pieces. I don't think the Type S manifold is much different than our Accord/Base TL mani. The 3.7 manifold is differnt and flows much better. That'd be your best bet if you are looking at an intake manifold, and I believe it's 2 pieces.

Yeah that was Kevin. There are a few people that have since returned the 3.7 mani or have taken it off because it failed to run 100%. No one has found the answer either.

^ I asked Kiet on it is a 2 piece. He also said that it wasn't worth it, but I don't feel like chopping my IM in half to PnP and then welding it back.

Flow won't be an issue since it will be ported and polish. Also the Manifold itself from honda is 100 bucks news.

^^Awesome find. So buying this 1 piece would save us cutting/welding the stock manifold and allow us to port EVERYTHING like d2fpika?

^ its a 2 piece. I think hope that we don't have to cut. lol But then I think your limited with the angle of how you can port it since the pix I posted earlier he had a full opening. I am not sure how the 2 piece will come apart. I hope it would have the to half with the ports fully exposed and the bottom half would just be the port that go to the runners. I ono I hope.

This manifold is actually made from magnesium. The 04-06 mani's were made from aluminum. The magnesium one is a few pounds lighter. I was considering buying this mani to pnp for my 06 because I assumed it was 2 piece by the way it looked. I ended up buying another 06 mani and its a work in progress.

I will post some pics, but it is at my friend's garage where we have the tools to work on the cars. I probably have about 20 hours in this thing already and I'm not close to being done. I actually sanded down the outside of the IM to remove all the casting imperfections and ground off all the unnecessary junk that was on the outside. The runners were a piece of cake to pnp, but the upper is a labor of love. I want this thing to pop when you open the hood, kind of like when they open up that suitcase in Pulp Fiction...
