J-series ITB interest????

hello fellow members,

I am into peformance of the honda v6s even though i do not currently own or run a j-series engine. However as most know around here some parts are interchangable.

I have contacted a company that specializes in making custom ITB(individual throttle body) setups. This kit does come with little foam filters on top of the air horns as to not get dirt inside. ITBs are normally for race setups only but i was curious if there was any interest here. I do like turbocharging etc but i love the sound of a well tuned honda motor in the upper RPMS!!!

Cost is unknown at this point but roughly $1500-1800. This is normal for a setup like this and NSX setups can cost that much or up to $3k.

Tuning would have to be done by you of course with a standalone for best results.

thanks in advance.

Ben

Ps- if this need to be moved to a more appropriate section i apologize.

no offense man but thats about the dumbest thing you could do to a TL..it would probably loose power...we have no way of tuning even for a turbo charger much less ITBs...ITBs are only effective if a motor is built...a SOHC V6 luxury cars motor is not set up like a NSX or other DOHC honda motors...a cold air intake would to more than ITBs...thats my thoughts and im sure their will be others to support it

There is no cheap engi8ne management for the TL and it took hondata aboud 2 years to break into the TL's ECU. The cost of the entire project in't work the gian at all, and if the member above is correct, tahn forking up over 2K for 4-5 HP is a waste of money, time and effort.

I doubt anyone would bother with ITB because anyone who wants power is going to just get the CTSC since the gains are roughly 100whp with this new hondata tune.

But then again I think it would be sick to have an ITB, if I could find someone who could tune it and I could get 35WHP out of this, I would do it, I'm sure it would sound sick as hell.

If you guys look at his cardomain page, he has a fully built 3.5L, special high comp pistones, honed and polished crank, modified heads and cams and a special tune, his car would be perfect for ITB.

This mod would be too complicated, too expensive and would just loose power across all rpm’s if installed on a stock engine.

I can't think of anyone that just comes to mind in terms of a built J-series engine, at least on AZ. I agree with the above posts though, that is a decent price considering the custom fabrication needed since I don't know if any company makes ITBs for the J-series. Toda ITB kit for the NSX costs $9000.

wow, i thought you guys had hondata management by now. wtf? The j-series ECUS are all similiar so once they hack one it should be easier to rewrite the maps for other acuras/hondas...

anyways the j-series engine has enormous potential and as far as i have read so far even some of you guys running superchargers still need corrective tuning to get the power gains you should.

Well i guess the question is ...what do you guys need built?? like...i dunno suspension, sway bars etc?? Throw me some ideas since i know a few people i can pass them onto.

A turbo kit, hondata should be able to crack that easily as it will give them a bunch of business. Also try full downpipes. Strut bar would be good, also maybe some Carbon fiber stuff like hood, decklid and such.

An improved Cam or some heads would be nice, as long as they were compatible with the stock tune. Once that is done you could probably go to ITB and then tune it accordingly.

Carbon fiber stuff would be cool as well, a CF roof is what I'm really aching for. I'd like to lose maybe 20lbs off the roof, and I'll be very happy.
