Talking

I was reading through forums about which one is better, but its hard to find dyno numbers from stock to Rv-6 v3 or excelerate v2 to compair the HP and TQ differences. I read tons of pages, but I seen a few threads getting heated, but never got any dynos yet so I figured I ask around. Only seen reviews on Rv-6 v2 vs Excelerate v2

Just wanted to know a little more and have some people chime in on their experience and what Jpipe you went with.

I'm driving a 04 TL auto, have my AEM v2 coming in sometime next week and looking to do the exhaust stage 3 with the dynomax resonator. Called Richie at RV-6 and he said to try with the Jpipe first before doing any exhaust mods so that mod will be last, the parts just sitting at home.

Also I'm on Function and Form Type-1 I have about 3 1/2 - 4 inches of space to clear the ground. I sometimes scrape my stock Jpipe on speed bumps or some slants. So clearance would be a issue also unless I end up raising the car, but for now I'm leaving it low. I know it cant help the scraping that much since I did decide to slam it, but Ill have to deal with it for now.

Any suggestions in which route to go would be great, I heard RV-6 might be better perfomance wise, but just wanted to make sure before I made the purchase. I was also leaning towards the Excelerate because it "claims" its the lowest on the market, but did anyone tell the difference yet?

Basically looking for :
-Best HP and TQ increase. Low end-top end?
-Best ground clearance
-Best quality material used to make this
-Sound differences? (raspy/growling) [Looking for G35/350Z sound]

Thank you guys

Could also chime in on ATLP jpipe, but I haven't done research on those yet. Thank you guys!

They(J-pipes) all pretty much give the same results.

Stuff that everyone agrees that actually works..
You're best bet to get more power out of your engine is to go with PCD+ j-pipe + CAI and mid muffler delete. Make it breathe.

Then whats left is up to you and what you think works.
Throttle body spacers, UR pulleys, etc.

A rumor I heard is that RV6 j pipes are more friendly to lowered cars. Wether that's true or not IDK, maybe someone else can confirm or deny.

Right on, thank you for your input. Any reason for getting the RV-6 V3? Price, sound, etc?
The one you comes with PCD on the jpipe ya?

I could tell you to get the RV6 one because I have one.

Ive never used the xlr8 j pipe but Im sure its a quality part as well.

BOTH j-pipes delete the mid-cat(3rd cat) in the middle.
And yes it changes the sound of your exhaust a tad louder, but not over overbearingly loud.

I went with RV6 because he had a sale and I got the pipe for $50 off.

Nice, shoot it looks like more info coming from ATLP V2 and RV-6 V3
I'm looking for more power on the freeway races then from a stop. Would you happen to know about any of that power from the ATLP V2? I read the RV-6 has good low rmp power and ATLP has more power above 4000k

I'm sure its not a HUGE difference though...
Still waiting to hear about the low end and top end of the excelerate v2

The atlp gives more high end power because of it's shorter primaries, but it isn't a huge difference.

Would it help me on freeway races? Or not that much at all...
debating on which one to get, but I do like the sound of the ATLP sounds like a g35 or something like that.
If the difference isn't much i would get maybe the RV-6 V3 since it shows better low end too.
Looking for more info on the excelerate v2 also and its performance compared to these.

Honestly I can't remember exactly but I believe I saw a dyno comparing an atlp to one of the other two and it showed 8-10whp more on the top end, but lost that same amount on the bottom end.

1. Best HP and TQ increase. Low end-top end? - Here is an independent dyno of our j-pipe on a TL-S.

2. I've never compared ground clearance on the other j-pipes but here is a recent picture of ours installed. There is plenty of clearance.

3. Our XLR8 j-pipes are made with T304 stainless steel from the US. The others used T409 and overseas T304.

4. They all will emit a similar exhaust note. The j-pipe doesn't alter the exhaust note that much though.

Can't go wrong with either. XLR8's and RV6 has different lengths in pipes, their gains offer you different power bands which you'll have to think which one you want to go with.

WHY is everyone stuck on which one gains up top and which one gains down low?

the gain between each jpipe is SOOO MINISCULE you wont even feel it up top or down low.

my buddy has a xlr8 jpipe v2 while I have the rv6 v3.
NONE OF US EITHER PULL from down low or up top when racing.

its a freaking MOOT point to argue who gains up top and which one gains down low.
Every one of ya'll who argues this is SPLITTING HAIRS.

for a decision between the two; WHO rubs you the right way? Josh or Richie?
Which one is cheaper?

I heard the rv6 is longer? Would that help in which power band? U set 4000k rmps? Usually like to race freeway so usually 4000k and up on a 40 or 45 mph roll.

it doesnt matter because BOTH pipes are similar in design.
BOTH pipes will make VTEC SCREAM!
BOTH PIPES WILL DO THE SAME SHIT!

you sir are splitting hairs!

To make your decision easier; DId you enjoy that Josh came in here and personally gave his attention to you?
if you like Josh's answer; head to XLR8.com

If you don't mind ill watch the vid. My friend has the rv6 v2 I believe. But he likes the rv6 brand for some reason. So that's why I was looking into that one. Was readying about jpipe then I wanted te xlr8 v2, but read up on rv6 v3 then seen a video of the dyno of rv6 v3 vs atlp v2 and the v2 had better top end but slower low end. Still trying to decide. The rv6 v3 had a small raspy sound but idk if that was from the camera recording. Looking for a g35 sound

the reason I went with Richie was because Josh didnt have the latest and greatest version of his.

Richie went on to innovate a version 3 of his jpipe.
Josh Just came out with his version 2; maybe in the last year or so.
Ive had richies pipe for the last 3 years

I currently have the ATLP V2 j-pipe with the mid muffler delete, and it sounds pretty dang close to the G35. Funny fact, I was once asked by an Infiniti owner, what type of exhaust I'm running. However, the main reason I went with the ATLP j-pipe is the third cat, which is a need here in CA to pass SMOG.

You won't feel a difference with such little mods. You'll have to have a ton more to even see where it gains. An example would be if you have a cammed TL, a Jpipe changes it all. In the header world, they rely on power range, where it starts, how much it makes, and how thick collector/primaries are in terms in inches. Sounds the same to what Jpipe has been for a lot of people here.

yes, boucner...but no one has a cammed fucking tl.....
save for a few.

Please; we're talking about some ones first mod.
the pipes are both similar in design.
the pipes both gain over stock.
they both will make VTEC scream!

who is going to put in the extra time to help me out.
which pipe is on sale at the current moment?

Ya I seem some vids. Sounds good...
I live in hawaii so we don't have those test.
If I were to get the atlp I would get the race pipe also. Just like the v3 or xlr8 v2
If u don't have that smog test would you go a different route?

You're welcome. The gains would be less on a base TL since it's a 3.2 instead of the 3.5.

as long as you are happy with the pipe and not post stupid complain like someone did earlier on every single car forum you are fine.

That is true, I called all 3 they were all nice. Josh did give me a better deal on shipping so leaning his way.

By all this feedback I know I wont be disappointed if i chose any of the 3 jpipes. Do you happen to know the newer mode? Is it josh's? or atlp v2

I had the rv6 v3 and atlp v2. rv6 definitely noticably stronger, torquier 2-3.5krpm, but then 3.5-6k felt flat. This was most noticable in 2, and 3rd gears. 6th gear felt pretty weak between 2-3.5krpm though, dunno why. RV6 had a meaner growl and a resonance around 2.5-3kish.

the atlp really came alive after 3krpm and had smoother power delivery. 3.5krpm + felt better with the atlp through all the gears.

I kept the atlp cuz it was quieter and felt more linear.

I am curious to see how the xlr8 feels

Those sounds like some good reviews, Do you feel you pull harder with the ATLP one? Mainly looking for 4000k and up on freeway. Was maybe going to try the XLR8 one because i THINK? its the newest one?
So the RV6 one is flat after 2nd gear pretty much? Which one did u feel had more power in 3rd and 4th and 5th, i dont have a 6th fml lol

My 3rd and 4th gear is slower then Id like it to be... Some cars pull away after my 4th gear.
If i went with ATLP im going to get the race pipe also. so its almost like the newer v3 and v2

the atlp really came alive after 3krpm and had smoother power delivery. 3.5krpm + felt better with the atlp through all the gears.

I kept the atlp cuz it was quieter and felt more linear.

I am curious to see how the xlr8 feels

I would say the pull with the atlp with race pipe felt better overall in all gears.

overall i say rv6 felt stronger with 1st and 2nd gears from the torque gains
and 3rd/4th/5th felt better with the atlp + race pipe

it was easier to spin the tires with rv6 and definitely felt good stoplight to stoplight. But on the freeway, it just felt more flat.

Right on that sounds good enough for me.
ATLP vs XLR8 should be the next test lol
ATLP comes out about $55 more then the quote i was given by Josh at XLR8

you'll be fine with either jpipe you pick. i personally chose the RV6 V3 cause Richie had a tax refund sell on it last year (too bad he's not having one this year). also, there is no rasp at all with it.

Even though I agree with Justin,

The overall best J pipe is XLR8.
The best service is Richie.

Both are good and either one you won't be disappointed.
