Is J-Pipe a DIY Install?

Is installing a J-Pipe a reasonable DIY project?

Put car on jackstands, undo the factory nuts/bolts, remove original and slip the new one right in?

Impact wrench needed to undo original bolts??? Or will a breaker bar suffice?

Thanks!
Steve

Impact wrench helps, as the only hard part of the install is really just getting the stock bolts loose. The J-Pipe drops right down after that. All you need to undo is the little plastic wind diffuser that's on the bottom right below the J-Pipe.

Easy stuff...off and on. An hour at most being careful.

Awesome, thanks for the info!

This will go on my list of pending mods.

One final question: Installation of the J-Pipe would have only a minor impact - if any - on exhaust volume - True??

Thanks again,
Steve

Yup! Very little difference in tone if any. Also, I agree VERY easy to install. Took me 30 minutes to install with test pipe.

the difficulty of installation really is based on how old the car is and how much gunk has caked over all the bolts.

other than that, it is a very fast install.

as far as tone is concerned, if you're really picky you will notice a deeper/throatier tone. but if everything else is stock it's barely noticeable.

Easy and no time at all, unless you have nuts that are rust-welded on. Be sure to use plenty of anti-seize when you put the nuts back on.

^I did mine with jackstands . I didn't have to loosen my pre-cats, either.

OK, since I asked about it being DIY, and I don't have a lift or a pit at my house, what would you suggest as an alternative to jack stands??

Thanks,
Steve

no no it is perfectly possible to do on jackstands I just think to properly line up the flanges as to not get an air leak you will have to losen the precats because it will in no way allow you to move down there

if you haven't gotten the recall done yet, you can slip the tech 20 bux and have him/her install it because it needs to be removed to do the recall work.
