Just something I noticed was a sound that sounded like a belt whine. I checked out the vibra mount on AEM v1 and the nuts on both sides were loose. I tightened them up and now its gone. Just got the faint whistle.

Other than the whistle, you couldn't tell the car was modded, until you give it 1/2 throttle or more. That's when the intake growls

I'm convinced there is a way to fix the whistle though. There has to be.

On my old prelude, some guy were putting a type of 'fan' blade 'tornado' or whatever inside their intakes. I wonder if there is anything like that we can do.

Whistle: Absolutely...Cant stand it. Sounds like a squealing belt.

I had a CAI on my 95 Integra and had the same whistle. I DIDNT have a TBS so it has to be the CAI. Im tired of it so if anyone figures it out, for the love of god please let me know! I love the throaty sound but the whistle can go. I can even hear it at 70mph if I roll down the window. For those that dont hear it but have a CAI, you will need to roll down your drivers side window to hear it. I cant hear it with window rolled up but I know its still there.

This is not a bad idea at all!! The "Tornado" was designed to put a vortex into your air as it enters the intake...in theory this was suppose to save fuel but for us this vortex would very possibly eliminate the whistle! In my limited knowledge air will only create a whistling noise when it is in a straight line and passing either through or over something that disrupts it. If we can spin the air in may just work!! The other thing I have read on here is about the threaded Nipple near the TB...this would and could very easily cause the noise for the same listed above reasons! If that is not needed I plan on filling it with a possible fiberglass resin and sanding it smooth.

OK....So I called AEM! They said the noise everyone is hearing typically comes from the air passing through/over the throttle plate/butterfly of the Throttle Body! The only advise that was given was to look for any "sharp" edges that you can file down or remove....I would not attempt this on the butterfly because it would most likely mess with the idle I would assume!

I asked about the Threaded nipple as well...the purpose of that is to relocate the Air Temperture Sensor from the Intake to the CAI tube....thus tricking the motor to think it is cooler than it is and providing more fuel...this intrigues me!! Has anyone done this?? I am thinking this is almost worthy of a seperate thread!

This has been discussed alot in older threads. Looks like it decreases your MPG (maybe 1 MPG...if that) and the HP increase is negligible if even present.

I've had the mods on my car for about 2 years now. At first it was a slight whistle like a blow off valve on a turbo setup. However, lately it's getting more noticeable. Anyone else notice this also? Don't get me wrong I like the sound but, it's making me worry something might be wrong because it's making a louder whistle sound then before.

You might want to check that everything is tight if you already haven't. I can barely hear the whistle of my V2 and that's only with the windows down and me paying close attention to the noise.

I'll check my hoses again for any loose ends or cracks... Thank you...

Installed my AEM V2 today with a Thermo-Tec Wrap and I have very very little noise/whistle! I did though modify the threaded nipple by shorting it up so the bolt was flush with the inside of the tube! This hole is very likely the producing factor for a fair amount of the noise as I read one other post on here saying that after they installed a longer bolt the noise also went away!!!

This seemed to have worked for me as well, I just grinded down the nipple and used the provided bolt though...in the end it is the same result. The noise is very very faint!

Thread Resurrection FTW!

So I made my own CAI using Jeremy's DIY Thread . Overall, I love it, except for this annoying whistle! I'm slightly relieved to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing this. This started happening right after I finished installing the intake, but I honestly thought it was my serpentine belt creating the noise. It sounds EXACTLY like that (not a pleasant sound). After reading this thread, and also removing my serpentine belt, I'm 99% sure it's my intake creating the noise.

Since I don't have that much invested into it, I'm seriously thinking about removing the AEM filter and just leaving the factory intake/filter + resonator delete. I ran that setup for a long time before adding the conical filter and never heard a whistle. I will, however, miss the fart sound when I shut the car off

I have a question for those of you who do have the whistle though: Do you hear it when the car is in Park and Neutral, or ONLY when it is in Drive? For me the whistle/whine is only present in Drive. I hear nothing when I rev the engine in Park or Neutral. So I'm just wanting to make sure that this is a common symptom among you fellow whistlers
