Installing XLR8 Catback Exhaust...
Installing XLR8 Catback Exhaust...
Ok.. the inlet pipe from the muffler is a bitch to install to the split pipe in the back -- anyone have a problem with getting the damn pipe put in? I measured the size of both pipes and they are almost both identical... what a bitch to install!
Its a tight fit, there's no denying that. I forget what i did exactly, but I believe i hung the mufflers on one of the two hangers on each side, and then carefully slid the pipe into each other. The first end slipped in no problem, but the second one, i had to get the muffler section into the y-pipe section just barely and then just tap it home with the palms of my hand (wearing really thick winter gloves with a t-shirt tied to each hand.
Some have tried using lube, such as, i think, motor oil.

Thanks for the quick reply man.. i've been spraying that junk with wd-40... i'm at the point of somehow sanding it down so that they will fit. i measured both the muffler pipe and the exhaust pipe and they are both EXACTLY 2.25"!
Are you able to do a "dry" fit??? What i mean by this is, without have any sort of restriction imposed on the piping, can you fit the muffler pipe inside of the y-pipe? Unbolt the y-section and see if you can dry fit the mufflers' piping into the y-section on your lawn or something.
i'm thinking about taking out the y-pipe and installing the mufflers on my lawn then reinstalling the entire set as one piece. makes it easier than trying to do it under the car, especially when you're on jacks.
