INJEN users:
A)where did u get yours? i've tried ebay, and the only 2 guys listing injen won't return my inquiries (i want black).
B)should i be concerned about sucking in water? would AEM be a better choice for my NJ submarine?
C)what does your seat-o-the-pants dyno tell you? i'm not impressed by noise. i'm looking for more drivability, and possibly a platform on which to build an exhaust later...
D)anyone install in a 6mt? i noticed AEM seems to build for auto only. injen doesn't really give any info on their site-

I dont have a TL but I have an Injen CAI on my 02 Maxima and drove it in the last major rainstorm we had here in NJ without incident. I even nailed few moderate puddles. (NOTE: That was only the only time I've driven it in the rain with the CAI.)
My Accord has had an Iceman CAI for several years and also NEVER had a problem with hyrolock. So long as you dont run the Paris-Dakar rally with it, you should be OK.
Low RPM @ High Rain
Drove my car under Heavy- Heavy Rain afetr installing the AEM- CAI NOT problem at all........ "Hint" : DONT hit that gas pedal because more air will suction that intake..
So, Under heavy rain Watch for "pot-Holes" and dont try to be a submarine and keep ALWAYS your RMP's as low as minimal (below 1500) , keep speed below 50's to avoid " SMoke-water particles " filtering to the Filter which is condensed and produced and high speeds...

Hope this helps a little?
I got mine from www.byunspeed.com for $260 or so. I paid more for the Injen because I wanted black and not chrome.
I have not had a chance to install it yet.
If you submerge your car and get that intake full of water, you will also be in water deep enough to short out your electronics.

I did some research, and I found this to be the cheapest...I paid $229/shipped for my Injen(black).....and I got it within 3 days...you have to add it to your cart to get the 5% discount...thank me later!!

What happens if you slapsh into a deep puddle like in a Dip area, do you let your foot off the gas and shut off the car immediately? or just drive very slowly out? Im in a dilemma of what cais to get.. im considering the k&n typhoon since i can switch from short to cai
In the winter during the heavy rain falls water gets real deep in Buena Park, deep enough to cover some peoples exhaust, happened in my maxima (not lowered but had a huge muffler) so with that in mind what do you guys recommend?

i have the k&n and have driven through some deep water...no problems. its been installed for a little over 8 months. i would assume all the other cai's out there are the same.
Word to the wise....
You should never try to drive through more than a few inches of water. In the TL, I probably would not drive in more than 5-6 inches of water. If you get your electronics wet, or the inside of the transmission, you will have problems. When cars are totaled out for flood damage, it's not because the water was up the roofline.
I remember about six years ago we had a crazy amount of rain in Chicago, and all the viaduct between Ashland and Damen were impassable. The roads under the train tracks all dip down about 3-4 feet so consequently, they all filled with water. I recall watching a guy in Jeep get thru, and then some guy in a 1998 Corolla tried to fly through the water. He got halfway through and then the car died.
In my opinion if the water reaches the bottom of the door sill it's waaaay too deep.

I think mine is a bit quicker tha it was before the CAI-- but is sure does sound a lot different-- it will turn a few heads when you punch it . . . My ONLY dislike about the product is the hassle of removing the filter to clean/replace it
I had an S2000, drove it hard rain and deep puddle without any problems with the AEM intake (the filter was very close to the bottom panels of the car. With the TL, since the filter sits very high (around headlight level), you shouldn't have any probelms. This assumes the Injen is similar to the AEM.

I was driving next to him last weekend while I was at home, and when he punched it from behind me and passed by, it sounded fucking bad-ass.
Got it for 205 shipped from my usual parts guy.
My Injen should be arriving today.... looking forward to it... any advice for the install?? I plan on doing it just through the wheel well and not removing the bumper. I have installed (and custom made) a few intakes, I dont foresee this being very difficult.

Okay, got it installed now.... Took about an hour and 15 minutes to do, did it through the wheel well without removing the front bumper... Like all intakes, the hardest part is getting the old system out... There is one bolt that is toward the front that was a little tricky to get at, but with one of those "stubby" socket wrenches, with a deep socket, it was a piece of cake.
My biggest complaint.... Those stupid plastic clips... when removing them, they can break as if they were on a chevy blazer (I used to own a 98 blazer).
As for the intake... It is pretty cool, it doesnt seem any slower down low, which i was worried about b/c according to the dyno by injen, it lost like 10-15 ft-lbs from 1k to 3.5k or so. from 4300ish on up, it is pretty good... seems faster, but it might be just the sound... which is quite nice... sounds VERY similiar to alot of other honda motors with an intake, even ones that are only 1.8L. When cruising, it pretty much sounds exactly like the stock setup. btw... bought it from ptunning.com someone on here, on another thread, dont remember who, posted a link which would get you a 5% discount... i think it ended up being $229 shipped.

Indeed. The intake on the Civic was very LOW-- down at nearly the level of the oil pan bottom. This is not the case with the 04-05 TL-- it is much higher.
