+1. It does get raspy.

To the OP: If you want throaty sound, your best bet is to change out your canisters. If you want to do it right, you can just get a catback?

I hear ya. I used to have a stage 3 setup as well, but I got a GReddy Evo II and ATLP J-Pipe. This sounded GREAT! Recently, I installed the ATLP Race-Pipe as well, and just a tad bit of raspiness is present, nothing to really make a point of.

I knew someone with stage 4, and that is rasp city.

IMHO, as I mentioned, get new canisters, and axle-back, or just to it the right way and get a catback!

Slowly you're going to keep doing these little things to your exhaust and what's going to happen is you will love it at first and then desire more, and then you'll do one more thing, and so on until you realize you just wasted money and are going to end up getting a CAT BACK.. take it from me.. I did the same thing.

lol TRUE! nicely put man.. iv gone thru that experience w my speed6.. but TL being my first auto.. i really just wanna cruise in it and dont wanna make the exhaust any louder than the G35's
I'v been very satisfied with the stage 3 set up until i got to compare the sound w my buddy's G right next to each other

Trust me, I did precat deletes with stage 3 exhaust and the rasp was embarassing. I added another resonator to get rid of the rasp, but like was said before I ended up ordering ATLP quads. It's a disease and I am afflicted...

I did the stage III with mid muff delete, Dynomax resonator with the RV6 J-Pipe and 3rd cat delete/test pipe and it sounds great on my 06 TL manual with the AEM V2 intake, but still not enough for me. Full catback soon.

With stage 3 ATLP j-pipe and RV6 3rd cat delete there was no rasp. The rasp didn't start until I added the precat deletes.

I just did added the ATLP Race pipe - posted a couple of sound clips a day or two ago (not the greatest, I admit).

So now I have ATLP J-Pipe --> ATLP Race Pipe --> "Stage 3" Stock exahust. '07 TL-S.

I don't hear it as "raspy" in the cabin, but there is more drone at low RPM and partial throttle.

I wonder if the RV6 Resonated Race Pipe/Test pipe is what helps "smooth" the sound out?

NOOOOO!! Do NOT do precats with stage 3 exhaust mod. Unless you are a fan of rasp you will be embarassed how much it sounds like a wet fart. If you have STOCK resonator and mid-muffler and do precats you will be ok, but not with stage 3....

Ditto. I actually inherited a stage three exhaust cause my buddy couldn't stand the rasp with his setup.

So if I have the mid muffler and resonator removed and I'm about to add the ATLP Race Pipe, I'm going to experience RASP like no other huh??

People are saying its the precats that is causing the rasp. Ive thought about getting the race pipe too and seeing what happens.

I'll let you know how it turns out With just with the mid-muffler and resonator gone it's pretty raspy around ~2500 RPM's
